Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses. It’s Wednesday! The week is half over!

Firstly, let me thank everyone for the “staying cool” suggestions in the last links. Super helpful and it seems like you all enjoyed the tips and tricks as well. I had a lovely day walking around a vintage market and then quickly relaxing in some shade with a beer and empanadas.

It’s also Memorial Day weekend in the States. Do any of you have plans for the long weekend if you have it off? Something small and relaxing? Or maybe a trip farther than a few feet from the couch to the kitchen? Both are valid!

I had a good cackle at this list of “20 Authors I Don’t Have to Read Because I’ve Dated Men for 16 Years.” I’ve been on many a date where I’ve had to argue for my decision not to read Infinite Jest.

Need to disconnect from work for a vacay or staycay? Might I suggest “outhorsing” your email.

There are some really amazing people with really cool jobs on TikTok and they like to make content and answer questions about said cool job. Here is one I discovered recently. Meet Dr. Jessica Steinrock, an intimacy coordinator for television!

Lastly, this thread was such a delight to go through and see what things have brought people joy. The only rule for contributing is that the little thing that brought you joy had to have cost $30 or less. Do you have any? I think, for me, I got me a bag of leftover pastries from a coffee shop for $12. The fudgey brownie with chocolate chunks and sea salt was well worth the cost alone.

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

re: ourhorsing your emails. I’ll feel more amused once Iceland bans blood farms, tbh. I’m glad that the tourism board supports the ban, b/c seeing this just feels like being sold a bill of goods since most tourists won’t know what’s really going on for thousands of those horses.

Ah, that last thread has a Trader Joe’s bag that I have/love! So weird to see something so local, too… (I can confirm it’s pretty great.)

I know I’ve shared this before, but I have three daughters and I’ve always told them, “If you’re on a first date with a guy and he starts talking about how great Jordan Peterson is, don’t bother with a second date. But if you’re on a first date, and the guy says ATLAS SHRUGGED or CATCHER IN THE RYE is his favorite book, don’t bother to wait until the end of the date—he is NOT a guy for you.”

@3D, conversely, one of my greatest disappointments was meeting up with a friend who brought a long two of his friends. I think he was attempting to be a wing man. The one who was single wandered off when we started talking about books, and the one who had a fiancée broke my heart when he said THE HANDMAID’S TALE was the scariest book he’d ever read.

I love the thread, and my summer budget may take a big hit from reading it all the way through! I had to buy the crushed ice cube trays and the parody Nancy Drew pencil container already, I know I will revisit for more purchases!

Mark your calendars, Bitches: in theatres July 1, MR MALCOLM’S LIST.
Trailer is up & it’s looking pretty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ONCEOWbl4s

That list of authors men like is pretty satisfying but I’m glad she admitted to liking a couple of them. None of them are “bad” writers necessarily they just don’t deserve the hero worship they get. I will defend Catcher in the Rye as a portrait of a child experiencing grief until I die but I also understand why people hate it.

  8. Sue says:

I came across this a couple of days ago and love it! Green Eggs and Ham and Boundaries! Listen, I know nobody asked. But Sam-I-Am is a MENACE and I won’t pretend otherwise.

That thread from Rachel Syme took up my whole lunch hour but made my day.

Say, does anyone have a link to share for cool stickers like/the same as those in the twitter feed?
