HaBO: Heroine Frequently Visits His Balcony

This HaBO is from Nathalie, who is hoping to find this contemporary romance:

I read a book, I want to say I the last few years.

The hero and heroine both live in San Francisco. She newly moved; she is blonde. He, I think, is newly divorced or out of a bad relationship. They are neighbors in the same building. They fall in love and she climbs into his balcony often.

Comedy and angst. It’s killing me that I can’t remember the name!

Sounds cute!

  1. Lynn says:

Could it be Just For Kicks by Susan Andersen? It is set in Las Vegas, not San Francisco, but the heroine is blonde, and she and the hero are neighbors with adjoining balconies. She coaches him on the nephew who just moved in with him. Hope this helps!

  2. Beth says:

It sounds a little like “Love at First,” by Kate Clayborn, though I can’t remember if it’s set in San Francisco.

  3. Manda Collins says:

The living in the same apartment building in San Francisco bit sounds like Jill Shalvis’s Heartbreaker Bay series, but I’m not sure which book. It might be Hot Winter Nights but it could also be one of the other ones.

  4. KB says:

Love at First is set in Chicago but this does sound a lot like it. It also sounds like Fall from Kristen Callihan’s VIP series, but that is set in New York. Who knew that “climbing onto each other’s balconies” was such a widespread trope!

  5. S says:

Is it possibly Julie James, Suddenly One Summer? It’s Chicago, not SF, but they’re neighbors and I’m pretty sure I remember balcony climbing (it’s been a few years since I read it). Heroine moves in next door to the hero right at the beginning of the book.

    Following….

  7. JudyW says:

I’m going to throw out ANYONE BUT YOU by Jennifer Crusie? I remember it was funny and they communicated via dog and fire escape. Not technically a balcony but they came through windows a lot.

  8. Mango says:

It’s not a balcony, but a rooftop patio- Jojo Moyes- Still Me or After You…maybe?
