Knights, a Circus, & More

  • Sailor Proof

    Sailor Proof by Annabeth Albert

Sailor Proof by Annabeth Albert is $1.99! This is book one in the Shore Leave series and seems to have a lot of catnip. One of the heroes is in the military, there’s a fake relationship, and the best friend’s younger sibling trope.

The sexy Navy chief and his best friend’s adorkable little brother…

It’s petty, but Naval Chief Derrick Fox wishes he could exact a little revenge on his ex by showing off a rebound fling. His submarine is due to return to its Bremerton, Washington, home base soon and Derrick knows all too well there won’t be anyone waiting with a big, showy welcome.

    Enter one ill-advised plan…

Arthur Euler is the guy you go to in a pinch—he’s excellent at out-of-the-box solutions. It’s what the genius music-slash-computer nerd is known for. So when he finds out Derrick needs a favor, he’s happy to help. He can muster the sort of welcome a Naval Chief deserves, no problem at all.

Except it is a problem. A very big problem.

When Arthur’s homecoming welcome is a little too convincing, when a video of their gangplank smooch goes enormously viral, they’re caught between a dock and a hard place. Neither of them ever expected a temporary fake relationship to look—or feel—so real. And Arthur certainly never considered he’d be fighting for a very much not-fake forever with a military man.

  • Where Dreams Descend

Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles

Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles is $1.99! I mentioned this on a previous Hide Your Wallet and it’s the first book in (I believe) a completed duology. It gives me Night Circus meets Hunger Games vibes.

“Vibrant imagery, jaw-dropping set pieces, sizzling romantic tension, and unstoppable heroine Kallia bring this ambitious debut novel to spectacular life. Fans of Caraval and The Night Circus will be delighted!” – Claire Legrand, New York Times bestselling author of Furyborn

In a city covered in ice and ruin, a group of magicians face off in a daring game of magical feats to find the next headliner of the Conquering Circus, only to find themselves under the threat of an unseen danger striking behind the scenes.

As each act becomes more and more risky and the number of missing magicians piles up, three are forced to reckon with their secrets before the darkness comes for them next.

The Star: Kallia, a powerful showgirl out to prove she’s the best no matter the cost

The Master: Jack, the enigmatic keeper of the club, and more than one lie told

The Magician: Demarco, the brooding judge with a dark past he can no longer hide

Where Dreams Descend is the startling and romantic first book in Janella Angeles’ debut Kingdom of Cards fantasy duology where magic is both celebrated and feared, and no heart is left unscathed.

  • For My Lady’s Heart

For My Lady’s Heart by Laura Kinsale

For My Lady’s Heart by Laura Kinsale is $1.99! Several of the book descriptions I saw mention that the ebook has two versions of the book. According to a comment last time this was on sale, both versions are included.

In medieval Europe, vows and laws are as inflexible and confining as a suit of armor. For Ruck, a noble and honest knight, those rules provide an unwavering path. Even as his wife leaves him for the Church, taking his money and his steed, Ruck’s life is one of devotion and mission.

For the beautiful widow, Princess Melanthe, those same laws and traditions conspire to consume her land and her independence. Her husband’s death has left her kingdom an inviting target for neighboring territories. Where Ruck sees a clear path, Melanthe must navigate through twisting alleyways, using shrewd deceit and devious strategy.

Can these two help each other overcome the powers conspiring against them? Will the passion in their hearts escape the constraints of their station? Is devotion enough?

With her classic romance FOR MY LADY’S HEART, author Laura Kinsale has crafted a rich, sensual portrait of life during the Middle Ages. And, now for the first time, readers can choose between two versions of the story. Both are included in this same ebook.

The first is the original published novel filled with authentic Middle English dialogue and deep period detail. The second (included only here in the ebook version) had been painstakingly reworked by the author to include a tighter read and more modern words for dialogue. Whichever you decide to read, you’ll be richly rewarded with a story of love and honor for the ages.

  • The Theory of Attraction

The Theory of Attraction by Delphine Dryden

RECOMMENDED: The Theory of Attraction by Delphine Dryden is $2.99! Sarah really enjoyed this book, and this series, and if you like contemporary BDSM erotic romance with very thoughtful characters, you’ll probably like this. Sarah read this book and said:

I’m really finicky when it comes to erotic romance, especially romance with BDSM, and I thought this story was an excellent blend of erotic tension and character development. Plus the hero is really fascinating. This is a terrific… read – I hope you’ll give it a try.

Camilla can set her watch by her hunky rocket-scientist neighbor who jogs past her window each day. She relishes each glimpse of his shirtless abs, and is dying to see more. But it’s hard to connect with a man who doesn’t seem to know she exists…

Ivan feels at home in the lab, not in social situations. When he finally approaches his attractive neighbor, it’s not for a date—he wants tutoring in how to behave at an important fundraiser. Ivan doesn’t expect the chemistry between them to be quite so explosive, and is surprised when Cami actually accepts his proposal to embark on a series of “lessons.”

Cami soon discovers Ivan’s schedule isn’t the only thing he likes to be strict about—he needs to be charge in the bedroom as well. She’s shocked at how much she comes to enjoy her submissive side, but wonders if a real relationship is in the equation…

  1. HeatherS says:

“Sofia Khan Is Not Obliged” by Ayisha Malik is $0.99 on Kindle right now. It’s a total bargain and a delightful book – it was often called “the Muslim ‘Bridget Jones'” (but Sofia isn’t obsessed with her weight like Bridget is). I would recommend against reading the sequel, though.

  2. Chrissy says:

Check this one out – Paperback Crush by Gabrielle Moss, for $1.99 on Kindle. Page copy “For fans of vintage YA, a humorous and in-depth history of beloved teen literature from the 1980s and 1990s, full of trivia and pop culture fun.”

  3. Midge says:

Sailor Proof is pretty fluffy and cute – I liked it.

  4. The Other Kate says:

There are two major mistakes with the guy’s uniform on Sailor Proof. Being in the real-life military makes it pretty much impossible to enjoy military-themed romances . . . Sigh.
