Mimi Matthews is a fantastic writer – recommend Gentleman Jim and anything she writes. Her new book John Eyre just came out. Not a big fan of historic fiction but she is awesome!
Ooh, I loved Gentleman Jim. There’s a solid villain, good external conflict, some really good writing, and dramatic plot twists (even if, as the reader, you know things will be okay in the end because otherwise this would not be a romance.)
Per Goodreads, I have definitely read How the Dukes Stole Christmas and I gave it 4 stars (which is high praise for me), but I didn’t make any notes about what I liked nor can I remember any of it based on the descriptions of the stories, so perhaps not memorable?

I didn’t super like Gentleman Jim, but Mimi Matthews is always quality.
Thank you, Elizabeth, for bringing the upcoming John Eyre to my attention. I have no idea if a genderswapped paranormal version of Jane Eyre will be any good but I am curious!
I loved Gentleman Jim – Matthews always delivers a fresh story. My favorites of hers are the Parish Orphans series.
