Links: LeVar Burton, Pigeons, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses. It’s the last day of June! How’s everyone feeling?

We have a heat wave right now in New England and it’s the pits. My cat Linus does not care for it and does whatever he can to cool his belly off.

Fourth of July weekend is almost here. Do you all have any plans? I don’t think I do just yet.

A couple weeks ago, Twitter was exclaiming their love for pigeons and why the bird was often misunderstood.

Ted Lasso is definitely one of the best TV shows I’ve ever watched and I’m so excited for season two to drop next month. I also love sharing it with people or seeing people experience it for the first time, which is why this Twitter thread was a delight.

Wednesday, July 7: Sonali Dev is discussed her latest release, Incense & Sensibility, with fellow author Kristan Higgins. The event is FREE!

Do you have a MasterClass account or subscription? No? Well you may want to sign up for a trial because LeVar Burton has a class on storytelling! Also fingers crossed he becomes the permanent Jeopardy! host.

Annie Murphy (Alexis from Schitt’s Creek) is starring in a new show called Kevin Can F**k Himself, which subverts the goofy and shitty sitcom husband trope. The first two episodes from AMC are free to watch on their YouTube channel.

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

Anytime I think of posting a link I always go through the thought process “oh, everyone but me probably knows about this already” and you know what, maybe you do, but it bears repeating –

Full episode of Taskmaster are available free on YouTube (with commercials)

For those of you, who don’t know it, it’s a British show where comedians try to do silly tasks (make a bed while holding hands, get three yoga balls to the top of a hill on a windy day, etc) and then get judged on how well they did them. It’s maybe not quite as cozy as the Great British Bakeoff, but it’s not mean-spirited or nasty and it’s silly but doesn’t involve a lot of cringey/humiliating tasks. My husband, who is very hard to please when it comes to comedy, loves it and we can actually watch it together and both laugh. That almost never happens.

I second Taskmaster. I’m a fan of British panel shows in general, but this is my favourite and I devour every season. Greg Davies and Alex Horne are treasures.

Also fun is the Big Fat Quiz of the Year which you can find on YouTube.

Kevin Can F*** Himself is awesome! So emotional and the main actress is amazing. Strongly recommend people get AMC+ or whatever you need to watch the program.

Taskmaster helped me retain my sanity in 2020. Little Alex Horne also composed the music for the show. I found the task theme online and set is as my ringtone so now I feel happy every time my phone rings 😀

I am still working on my Romance Cover Model Bingo Pinterest board https://www.pinterest.ch/willynillies/romance-cover-model-bingo/ – and it keeps on giving…
Nope, I haven’t read all of those, but some, and from them and the stuff Amazon kept recommending me, it kinda spiralled – and keeps on spiralling! Some of these guys are reeeeally popular for some reason! Even funnier when two of them appear on the same cover.
