Help A Bitch Out

HaBO: Hero Thinks She’s a Witch

This HaBO comes from Katy, who is hoping to track this category romance:

I have a Help a Bitch Out request for a book I can’t remember the title or author of.

A book I vaguely remember reading had a heroine who wore all black all the time – like, the book describes her closet and drawers full of black clothes – and the hero for a little while thinks she might be a witch because of this and because he’s so wildly attracted to her (sadly, she’s not).

This would have been published in the 1980s, maybe the very early 1990s, and probably a category.

I kind of love the fact that black clothes and heady attraction means she must be a witch.

I’m intrigued by the heroine with all black clothes in a historical. I was wondering if maybe scrolling through this list of category romance lines with some covers (covering 65-89) http://robimes.blogspot.com/2020/01/a-guide-to-category-romance-series-1965.html might jog Katy’s memory? Not of the specific book, but maybe the line? Or the historical period?
    Apologies for the ugly link!

Hey – this was my request. 🙂 The book wasn’t a historical, it was a category contemporary. I’d love to see a historical with an all-black wearing heroine, though!

@Katy: Whoops, sorry! My brain saw 1980s and thought 1880s as a setting.

Clearly this hero was not familiar with New York in the 1980s, where all one wore was black.
