It is officially the last Wednesday of October. This month just flew right by and the Boston area might get their first snowfall of the season this Friday. I’m not sure if I’m ready.
Once again, I’m reminding you to vote. Vote early in person if you can, as the precedent set by the ruling in Wisconsin makes me nervous for mail-in ballots that don’t make it in by November 3rd.

Content warning here for loss of a child. Chrissy Teigen has come back from her social media hiatus to talk about the recent loss of her third child, and what it feels like to be a public figure experience this pain.

I just discovered Richard Ayoade’s YouTube series, where he travels and talks about weird gadgets with celebrities. I particularly love this episode with Noel Fielding. You can really tell what great friends they are. There are also fart jokes, which we could all use right now.

My recent self-care routine includes lying in bed and watching adorable fox videos from Save a Fox Sanctuary in Minnesota. The foxes are often rescued from fur farms and they all have such distinct personalities.

Another self-care suggestion: naps! If you need a reminder to rest, the Nap Ministry has a hotline for you!

Since Halloween is this Saturday, I want to share one of my favorite Saturday Night Live shorts:
…
Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

I will check out the fox videos.
My current pit stop for the “Get out of bed cuteness shot” is the @DickKingSmith twitter account. Cute animal videos and pics! Constant updates!
(Also, yes, it means I have a tab named “Dick King” permanently open and I’m juvenile enough to still find it hilarious)
My other addiction is this otome game called “The Arcana”. Please tell me I am not alone in playing a game because I wanted to read the fanfic?
That *was* wholesome!
I’m not sure if I should say Thank you or Dammit. 😉
I’d like to invite you to watch my daughter and her samulnori troupe perform.
My daughter is sitting front and center in the introduction. During the performance, she’s sitting slightly right of center playing the kkwaenggwari, a small, handheld gong. The other instruments are the Jing, a larger gong; Janggu, an hourglass-shaped drum; and Buk, a barrel drum.
She and the expat samulnori team are competing in a virtual competition in which number of viewers determines the winners. So, please watch this three minute video and feel free to share the video with others.

I’m a WeRateDogs and TheGoldenRatio4 Twitter devotee. Doofy, sweet dogs, doing funny, endearing things keep me balanced.
As someone also in Boston I am so not ready for any snow. October is way too early for snow! But it does give me a great excuse to drink hot chocolate from L.A. Burdicks (which I know is hella expensive but their drinking chocolate is worth every damn penny)
@Maite: I love Arcana. I backed them on Kickstarter when they were making the game!
@Sara: L.A. Buridcks! I go to the one in Harvard Square. It’s so hard to not to walk out with armfuls of those chocolate mice they have.
@Amanda @Sara:
Is this a chocolate shop? If so, it sounds amazing! I like a good local chocolate shop, and Asheville has a couple.
@Stefanie it is a chocolate shop! They have a few locations across the country with two in Boston/Cambridge. But luckily you can also order online! I recommend their milk chocolate drinking chocolate! It is so darn good!
Richard Aoyade also has a series called Travel Man, which features him travelling with a comedian buddy to a weekend getaway. I’m not sure about US availability but it is viewable in Canada on CBC Gem. I particularly enjoyed the episode to Budapest with Aisling Bea.
Also, most of those comedians are also in Taskmaster, which is available on YouTube and is hilarious. The season with Mel Guidroyc (post-GBBO!!) was particularly wholesome, in my opinion.
OMG love Finnegan fox. The one thing covid did was make me look at alot of videos. Seems the pandemic helped Save a Fox be discovered. I hope it brings them a ton of money to rescue even more foxes. Hee Hee Hee
My Youtube subscriptions have ballooned over the last 6 months. Mostly about food, because that’s how I roll. Middle Eats is my new favorite, got a few recipes I’m very excited to try, such as an Egyptian dessert that’s basically a pumpkin bechamel casserole. There’s Batzilla’s channel for adorable flying foxes and occasional microbat. And not as wholesome, but I’ve been laughing my head off at the escalation of lawyering around Omegaverse IP, as detailed in Lindsay Ellis’ last 2 videos and on Twitter.
Oh yeah, and watching University Challenge on Youtube has also been exciting, in that there’s no other quiz show where I feel accomplished for getting 1 out of 10 questions correct 😀 there was an episode last season where the music round was on Atlanta-based rappers, and watching 4 extremely nerdy 20-year-old British uni students flop around like a Magikarp trying to think of a rapper, ANY RAPPER, was a highlight of the show. (Not that I did any better, lol.)

Richard Ayoade is a treasure, and we should ensure all possible opportunities for Noel to be in his vicinity so that they may bless us with their combined presence.
