I feel like I may have asked this years and years ago, either here or on the now defunct amazon romance message board, and I feel like it was found but I’ve since lost it again.
This book has stuck in my memory very strongly for decades, it was my neighborhood best friends book, and she had torn the cover off and had it hidden underneath her dresser. I 12-13 so this was 20 years ago and it seemed like it was at least a decade old. I was allowed to check out whatever from the library but the secrecy of this book made me read and reread it.
It was a wagon train book, a woman (I feel like she was a redhead) was going west to meet her brother, who I think owned a hotel in California? She had all the supplies but they wouldn’t let her go without a husband and then the hero pops up to fill that role. I feel like it ends with a secret baby or pregnancy, I feel like he comes and finds her sitting on the porch of her brothers hotel in a rocking chair all knocked up.
But the real memorable part of this story is the hero fleeing from the covered wagon after making out with the heroine and masturbating on the prairie. Okay, that’s what I need to find again, no shame from me. This was FORMATIVE.

While I have no idea what this book is, I must say that “Wagon Train Prairie Masturbation” grabbed my attention as no other HABO headline ever did. Congratulations.
I find myself thinking of Rebecca Brandywine or Shirley Bushbee or Busbee who wrote some incredibly crazysauce western romances in the 1980s and 1990s.

@Ellie what came to my mind was the James River trilogy from Jude Deveraux. It’s been years since I read them but I feel like river jizz could have happened.

@Ellie The Conqueror by Brenda Joyce has a scene at the beginning where the heroine sees the hero masturbating in the river. He catches her and keeps going.
