Links: Fundraising, Filmmaking, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Yesterday was Super Tuesday. If one of your states participated, we hope you were able to go out and vote.

The coverage was a bit exhausting and admittedly, I’m kind of glad it’s over for me. But I do feel bad for people who did early voting for candidates who dropped out and those who may vote later in the primaries but are disappointed by their candidates showing so far.

Carole Bell, who previously wrote a couple guest reviews for us, is over at Shondaland discussing the importance of Black romance novels.

If you want to support more women filmmakers this year and next, check out this list from IndieWire. I, of course, wish there were more, as most of them were already on my radar.

Since RWA is a smoldering pile of ash at the moment, this also means their literacy signing probably won’t have the turnout it’s had in the past. Authors Tessa Dare and Beverly Jenkins have put together their own fundraiser to counteract this deficit, with more authors joining and creating their own fundraising teams.

They have a goal of $50,000 and as of when I’m writing this (Wednesday morning) they are a little over a fifth of the way there.

Thanks for the Super Tuesday wishes. I hope al USians reading this are registered to vote? If no, get busy! If yes, congratulations and check your registrations status with you local election official. (several states are seeking to purge voters from the rolls. If this has happened to you, follow to procedure to get back on them.) Every vote is needed in November (and in October for most overseas voters, military and civilian, who will vote absentee in that month).
