Book Recs, Bisexuals of the Blade, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Christmas is next week and Hanukkah begins this weekend. What? When did that happen.

If you’re celebrating any holiday traditions, we hope they leave you fulfilled and happy. Eat all the food. Enjoy all the things.

Sil is at Frolic recommending some 2020 enemies-to-lovers romance titles! This is one of my favorite tropes, so I’m all about this list!

The holiday season hasn’t begun until I’ve seen the Folgers incest ad on television. Don’t know what I’m talking about? This GQ profile will tell you all you need to know!

Hallmark made a dumb move be pulling an ad featuring a lesbian wedding. I believe they’ve reinstated it, but if you want more queer romances in your holiday season, there’s a great book recommendation list on Twitter.

Author, comedian, and producer Josh Gondelman wrote about how he’s adopted his wife’s enemies:

That’s part of what love is. When the person you love decides that someone in the world brings him or her only frustration and pain, that person is your enemy, even if that person has always been cool to you in the past, or you’ve never actually met the person, or your partner has never actually met the person. The more you love someone, the more ardently you should feel not just obligated but driven to want to destroy the people your loved one wishes ill.

I feel this so hard.

A photo from a lesbian wedding went viral. There were swords. And beautiful dresses.

The couple now has their own Twitter, where they’ve shared more wedding photos and pics of their dogs Udon and Soba!

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

Josh Gondelman is so wholesome and pure, for him to oppose anyone is a sign of true love’s transformative power.
Look him up, listen to him talk for 30 seconds and you’ll see what I mean.

    A+ links today, Amanda!

I too am not ready for holidays. Every year the Grinch gets more relatable. As this BBC documentary said, “December is the worst month.” https://www.amazon.com/Tudor-Monastery-Farm-at-Christmas/dp/B0788T6KNK
It’s dark, it’s cold, and it’s exhausting. Holiday cheer takes a lot of prep work, women are conditioned to do it all invisibly and feel guilty if it’s short of perfection. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

  3. DiscoDollyDeb says:

Re the Folgers ad: Ah, those common cultural touchstones. In about a decade, we’ll all be remembering how the Peloton commercial was codified subtext for, at best, a controlling and manipulative husband.

  4. MaryK says:

I’m sure my sister-in-law would heartily agree with Gondelman that my brother should hate the people she hates.

  5. Saturngrl says:

Friends, you got it right in the title, but your blurb makes no mention that the two women with the sword-filled wedding photos are bisexual. They were identified as lesbian when it went viral, but perhaps the paragraph that describes their own link could include their clarification on that point?

I have no idea if they’re any good, but there is a romance humble bundle available:

Bonus: some of the money you pay goes to the ACLU

    THOSE WEDDING PICTURES ARE EVERYTHING

  8. Maureen says:

I am in awe of the wedding pictures-the ladies are so beautiful, and those dresses are unbelievable!
