  • Scandal Never Sleeps

Scandal Never Sleeps by Shayla Black

RECOMMENDEDScandal Never Sleeps by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake is $2.99! Elyse read this one and really enjoyed it, though she did find it hard to classify in terms of genre:

I was pleasantly surprised by Scandal Never Sleeps. It was the hot contemporary I wanted but with a side of delicious mystery, and I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next in Seduction in Session.

They are the Perfect Gentlemen of Creighton Academy: privileged, wealthy, powerful friends with a wild side. But a deadly scandal is about to tear down their seemingly ideal lives . . .

Maddox Crawford’s sudden death sends Gabriel Bond reeling. Not only is he burying his best friend, he’s cleaning up Mad’s messes, including his troubled company. Grieving and restless, Gabe escapes his worries in the arms of a beautiful stranger. But his mind-blowing one-night stand is about to come back to haunt him . . .

Mad groomed Everly Parker to be a rising star in the executive world. Now that he’s gone, she’s sure her job will be the next thing she mourns, especially after she ends up accidentally sleeping with her new boss. If only their night together hadn’t been so incendiary—or Gabe like a fantasy come true . . .

As Gabe and Everly struggle to control the heated tension between them, they discover evidence that Mad’s death was no accident. Now they must bank their smoldering passions to hunt down a murderer—because Mad had secrets that someone was willing to kill for, and Gabe or Everly could be the next target . . .

  • The Guardian

The Guardian by Anna del Mar

The Guardian by Anna del Mar is $2.99! This is the third book in the Wounded Warrior series and seems to feature a hero and heroine who are veterans. I’m definitely interested in the plot (a game warden and photojournalist fighting poaching), but Carrie’s recent review has me thinking a lot about diverse settings being told through a White lens.

Game Warden Matthias Hawking is a decorated ex-SEAL engaged in a grueling fight against ruthless poachers in Africa. He’s short on resources and long on enemies. There’s a price on his head. The last thing he needs is the unexpected arrival of a beautiful but stubborn journalist threatening to uncover his secrets, an alpha female challenging his alpha male and getting into trouble, a hurricane wearing boots.

Jade Romo is a veteran of several different kinds of war. She’s survived her heroin-addicted mother, the foster care system, and the conflict in Afghanistan. Jade’s tough, confident, cynical, and self-reliant, a woman who doesn’t believe in forevers. But when she defies the poachers and lands at the top of the warlord’s kill list, she’s forced to rely on the skilled, attractive but supremely infuriating game warden who has captivated her body’s undivided attention.

Haunted by his past but driven by his courage, her mysterious guardian will do anything in his power to protect the woman who has captured his heart.

  • Cuffed

    Cuffed by K. Bromberg

Cuffed by K. Bromberg is 99c at select vendors! This is a small town romance where two people with lasting crushes on one another totally think it’s a great idea to have a one night stand. You know, because that always works out without any complications. It’s the first book in the Everyday Heroes series.

From the New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes a new series about three brothers, the job that calls them, and the women who challenge them.

“I hate you. I never want to see you again.”

Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville—at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade, ring in my ears every time a townsperson brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again.

Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons—sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer. But Grant is off limits because he knows too much about my past.

But I’m drawn to him. That damn uniform of his doesn’t hurt either. It’ll be my downfall. I know it.

What’s one night of sex going to hurt . . . right?

    ***

    I’ve always loved Emmy Reeves.

That’s why I’m shocked to see her all these years later. The shy girl I once knew is all grown up.

Adventurous and full of life, she owns my heart now, just as much as she did back then. Convincing her of that is a whole different story.

I’ll give her the one night she asks for—like that’s a hardship—but when it comes to letting her walk away after, she has another thing coming. There’s no way in hell I’m letting her go this time without a fight.

  • Stripped

    Stripped by Penn Rivers

Stripped by Penn Rivers is 99c at Amazon! The main reason I’m including this one is because it has a virgin hero paired with a stripper heroine, and I feel like that’s a lot of catnip. Some readers felt that the book was meh overall, though of course, they couldn’t resist the inexperienced hero angle.

    He’s a virgin.
    She’s a stripper.
    He’s a bouncer.
    She needs protecting.
He’s falling hard, and hard where it counts.
She’s careful, but can’t deny how he makes her tremble with just a look.

    Kanaan
A brutal past and a secret I’ve held tight my entire life have left me no desire to have a woman of my own. Until I see her, dancing on the main stage of The Sassy Sapphire, body stripped bare, eyes haunted. She awakened me, body and soul. But she has her own secrets. Ones I intend to uncover, so I can make her mine. I’ve chosen her to be my first, and if I’m lucky… she’ll also be my last.

    Gemma
I’m running from a mistake. One I made when I was too young to realize the consequences. I trusted the wrong man, and now I can only put my faith in myself. Until a sexy, broody bouncer at the club I dance for changes all that. He unravels me. Plucks at the strings that hold me together, but what he doesn’t know about my past could hurt the most innocent person I know. My little son.

A DUKE CHANGES EVERYTHING by Christy Carlyle is $1.99. Redheadedgirl gave it a B in November.

The Cuffed guy looks like he’s doing western line dancing 🙂

  3. Yota Armai says:

Re cuffed, the last time the heroine saw him was 3rd grade yet the hero knows too much about her past? Like what, how one time you ate an entire box of fruit roll ups by wrapping one around each finger so you had fruity claws?

  4. Darlynne says:

I first thought STRIPPED was SHIPPED, maybe some Harry/Hermione fanfic or, I don’t know, space opera. See what that missing hour does to me?

  5. Chris says:

Has anyone read Cuffed? Because I just read through some of the spoiler-y goodreads reviews to see what the hero knew about her past (also thinking joke-y 3rd grader stuff), and maybe there should be a trigger warning for child abuse? Not sure how much is in the book, but it looks like (spoiler?) that was the secret he broke his promise to not tell and the legal/custody repercussions of him telling is why she left town.

  6. BellaInAus says:

@Chris, that would explain why an 8(?) year old would say “I never want to see you again”. That’s more mature than most eight year olds I know would go.
