Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Mannequins & Underwear with Good Elastic

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO is from Elidia, who wants to find this older contemporary romance:

I’m looking for a book which would be at least from the early 90s, possibly older.

The heroine was a department store mannequin dresser, and the book starts off with her setting one up to advertise that the store sells panties with good elastic that won’t just fall down. This is *scandalous* to store management, but the hero thinks she’s spunky.

Things I’m pretty sure are true about the book but I wouldn’t bet money on it: It was a Harlequin, and I seem to remember that the author wrote another book set on a ranch where TEXAS was always written in all caps.

Definitely not the mannequin situation I thought we’d be getting.

Not sure about that particular book, but Lass Small books always had TEXAS in all caps.

  2. MMV says:

You might be right @Jen the lintarian her book entitled “ Disruptive Influence” might be the book.

  3. L:isa J says:

I didn’t know the title, but my first thought was that it had to be a Lass Small. I hope Disruptive Influence is correct.

  4. Lisa F says:

This is definitely a Lass Small. Might be from her Fabulous Browns series, which is about the children and grandchildren of Salty and Felicia Brown (I love that I remember that detail).

  5. Elidia says:

I’m betting that you nailed it right out of the gate, Jen and MMV! Amazing! I remember putting down whichever TEXAS novel it was about a chapter in, but I might have to look up all the Fabulous Browns.

As an amusing side-note, the reason I was looking for it was because I was puttering around on James Lileks’ site, and he has a section about Art Frahm. A quick google will tell you who he is, but I highly recommend going to Lileks and looking it up.

And I’m chuckling at the typo above ~ Jen the lintarian.
