The Cold Between
RECOMMENDED: The Cold Between by Elizabeth Bonesteel is $1.99, but only at Amazon! That might mean the deal is about to expire. The following two books are also priced at $1.99! This is a scifi mystery with romantic elements and Elyses gave the book a B+:
By the end of the book I was attached enough to the various supporting characters that make up the Galileo’s crew that I’m hoping if Bonesteel continues this series, she keeps them all in place.
If you want something a little different or enjoy lighter Sci-Fi with a suspense edge, then I’d recommend The Cold Between. If you need a guaranteed HEA with your romance, then you might want to tread cautiously.

An Unnatural Vice by KJ Charles is $1.99! However, the price is only available at Amazon. What the heck is going on with prices today? For many, Charles is an autobuy author because of the fantastic world building and romantic tension. The main complaints for this book in particular is that it lagged in some spots.

I really enjoyed the KJ Charles – satisfying enemies to lovers. It’s the 2nd in a trilogy and it really should be read in order. The three books all have stand alone romances but an overarching mystery / suspense plot.

@Anonymous, looks like yes. Tina is the Assistant Director who doesn’t want to fire Library Manager Angie — the heroine of My Restless Valentine. Library Manager Angie is the boss who set up Librarian Penny in Broken Resolutions.
@ElsieEm, I erred. Broken Resolutions is the first in the series.
I have only anecdotal data to support this, but it seems to me that romances about two men overwhelmingly tend to only show one of them on the cover (like An Unnatural Vice, above), while novels starring heterosexual couples are far more likely to show both characters, often in a suggestive pose (although certainly not always the case). Am I just woefully uninformed, or is there a real trend of not depicting both partners in LGBTQ pairings?
@Rose: I do think that’s more anecdotal than data-driven. I see SO MANY mf historical and self-published romances with just one protagonist on the cover that I don’t know how the percentages would play out compared to all mm romances. I do think the covers for mm romances displaying two protagonists are more likely to be frankensteined photoshops rather than the result of two-model photoshoot (see: Sierra Riley). Neveretheless, I can readily think of many popular authors whose cover art features two men, some in intimate poses: Cat Sebastian, Sloane Kennedy, Cardeno C, Felice Stevens, Lucy Lennox’s Maid Marian series,
I’ve really enjoyed most of Olivia Dade’s books (as a librarian, it’s nice to see library work realistically depicted in romances, for once), but My Reckless Valentine is the only one from that series I decided to pass on. I didn’t like Angie that much as a side character in the other books and since I started mid-series, couldn’t really bring myself to read a book where I knew the infamous stuffed animal scene was included (it’s referenced in the other books).
But if you read the description and are put off, I’d still recommend checking out some of her other books. My favorite was definitely “Driven to Distraction”; makes it up there as one of my favorites.
I agree with Deborah, with the added fact that it’s more rare to get a photo shoot for a cover now than it used to be, and there are all sorts of stock photos featuring MF pairings. There are considerably fewer featuring MM, and they may not necessarily be what the author or cover designer is looking for. I’d rather the one hero well done than some of the horrifyingly photoshopped ones you see on amazon.
@Rose That’s something that became v. obvious to me after seeing the covers for all of Cat Sebastian’s novels featuring two dudes.
Other authors who write M/M and have consistently had couples on most of their book covers are Annabeth Albert and Kris Ripper.
@Rose, other series from KJ Charles have both men on the covers: her Society of Gentlemen series and her Magpie Lord series 🙂 I love her historical romances.
