Labyrinth Lost

UPDATE: Deal no longer valid.
RECOMMENDED: Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Córdova is $1.99 at Amazon. I’m not sure if this is a left over Kindle Daily Deal from yesterday, so it may be expiring soon. Sarah read this book last year and gave it a B grade:
Overall, I think this book contains a fabulous world with a terrific, galloping adventure through a vivid and wrenching underworld. While I was reading it, I had a hard time putting it down. But the story has most of its strength in the plot and the world-building than in the characters and their emotional development and consistency, and I missed those aspects even while I enjoyed the rest.
Nothing says Happy Birthday like summoning the spirits of your dead relatives.
I fall to my knees. Shattered glass, melted candles and the outline of scorched feathers are all that surround me. Every single person who was in my house – my entire family — is gone.
Alex is a bruja, the most powerful witch in a generation…and she hates magic. At her Deathday celebration, Alex performs a spell to rid herself of her power. But it backfires. Her whole family vanishes into thin air, leaving her alone with Nova, a brujo boy she can’t trust. A boy whose intentions are as dark as the strange markings on his skin.
The only way to get her family back is to travel with Nova to Los Lagos, a land in-between, as dark as Limbo and as strange as Wonderland…
Beautiful Creatures meets Daughter of Smoke and Bone with an infusion of Latin American tradition in this highly original fantasy adventure.

Until You’re Mine by K. Langston is 99c! This is the second book in the Mine series. The first book is FREE and the rest of the books are also 99c! Talk about a bargain. There’s a whiff of class differences and while the book can be read as a standalone, readers said you’d be more familiar with the hero if you read the book before it.
Taking big risks has always been Archer Brook’s way of life. It’s what has to be done in order to get what you want, and he knows that better than anyone. Archer may have been born into a life of wealth and privilege, but he’s proven time and time again that his success is a result of his own true grit and determination. The savvy businessman is an experienced player in the game of life, always knowing when to ante up or when to cash out.
Love, on the other hand, is a game he’d rather not play. He’s loved and lost before and it’s not something he wants to ever experience again.
Life has never been easy for Katy Vaughn. The preacher’s daughter turned small town rebel has seen her fair share of heartbreak, and she’s tired. Katy is done with men who have no idea what they want or how to treat a woman. She wants a real man. One who can give her everything she’s ever dreamed of. One who will give her everything she needs. Archer wants to be that man for her but there’s one condition.
He refuses to give her his heart.
Temptation is sweet, but surrendering to it could cost him more than he ever bargained for.

The King’s Man by Elizabeth Kingston is $2.99! This is the first book in the Welsh Blades series and features an enemies to lovers romance, plus a nursed back to health element. Readers recommend the audio version narrated by Nicholas Boulton and many liked the anti-hero-ness of the hero. However, some mention there are historical inaccuracies.
Ranulf Ombrier’s fame throughout 13th century England for his skill at swordplay is rivaled only by his notoriety as King Edward I’s favorite killer. Ranulf’s actions have gained him lands, title, and a lasting reputation as a hired butcher. But after years of doing his king’s bidding, he begins to fear for his mortal soul and follows his conscience away from Edward, all the way to the wilds of Wales.
Gwenllian of Ruardean, Welsh daughter of a powerful Marcher lord, has every reason to leave Ranulf for dead when one of her men nearly kills him. As a girl she was married by proxy to a man Ranulf murdered, only to become a widow before she ever met her groom. In the years since, she has shunned the life of a lady, instead studying warfare and combat at her mother’s behest. But she has also studied healing and this, with her sense of duty to knightly virtues, leads her to tend to Ranulf’s wounds.
Saving her enemy’s life comes with consequences, and Gwenllian and Ranulf are soon caught up in dangerous intrigue. Forced together by political machinations, they discover a kinship of spirit and a surprising, intense desire. But even hard-won love cannot thrive when loyalties are divided and the winds of rebellion sweep the land.

The Trouble with Virtue by Stephanie Laurens and Alison DeLaine is 99c! This book features two historical romances that are a little over 200 pages a piece. Some readers found the pair of stories to be rather boring, while others were divided on which story was better. It has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads.

I one-clicked the King’s Man so fast… all my catnip right there.
@emmiesix Well done! I really enjoyed it, and it’s just as good on the umpteenth re-reading. I’m fairly sure I read it in the first place based on a recommendation here, but somehow I missed the part about it being first in a series. I’d really better read the rest, just for the sake of being thorough.
