  • The Glassblower

    The Glassblower by Petra Durst-Benning

RECOMMENDEDThe Glassblower by Petra Durst-Benning is $1.99! This was recommended to Redheadedgirl at our RT Reader Recommendation Party in Atlanta and she gave it a B:

There are a lot of details of how glassblowing works, and how the village of Lauscha is set up. It’s right on the cusp of a new age for Germany (so, if you’re a nerd like me, you know that the ghosts of World War One are over the horizon), and the role women are playing in society. I think the best stories come from eras of change because of the tension created by that societal change, and this is a good one.

In the village of Lauscha in Germany, things have been done the same way for centuries. The men blow the glass, and the women decorate and pack it. But when Joost Steinmann passes away unexpectedly one September night, his three daughters must learn to fend for themselves. While feisty Johanna takes a practical approach to looking for work, Ruth follows her heart, aiming to catch the eye of a handsome young villager. But it is dreamy, quiet Marie who has always been the most captivated by the magic—and sparkling possibilities—of the craft of glassblowing. As the spirited sisters work together to forge a brighter future for themselves on their own terms, they learn not only how to thrive in a man’s world, but how to remain true to themselves—and their hearts—in the process.

  • Craving

    Craving by Helen Hardt

    UPDATE: Sale no longer valid.

Craving by Helen Hardt is 99c! This is Kindle Daily Deal and so far, isn’t being price-matched. Do check out the other deals though, as there’s an Ilona Andrews title lurking around. This is more of an erotic romance, so some reviewers were surprised by the amount of sex. It also does end on a cliffhanger. It’s the first in the Steel Brothers Saga series and it looks like each brother has a trilogy devoted to them.

After being left at the altar, Jade Roberts seeks solace at her best friend’s ranch on the Colorado western slope. Her humiliation still ripe, she doesn’t expect to be attracted to her friend’s reticent brother, but when the gorgeous cowboy kisses her, all bets are off.

Talon Steel is broken. Having never fully healed from a horrific childhood trauma, he simply exists, taking from women what is offered and giving nothing in return…until Jade Roberts catapults into his life. She is beautiful, sweet, and giving, and his desire for her becomes a craving he fears he’ll never be able to satisfy.

Passion sizzles between the two lovers…but long-buried secrets haunt them both and may eventually tear them apart.

  • Roadside Assistance

    Roadside Assistance by Marie Harte

Roadside Assistance by Marie Harte is $1.99! This is the second book in the Body Shop Bad Boys series, and I love these covers. The heroine is also a “curvy girl,” according to reviews. Readers say it’s a bit slow to start, but others really loved the hero. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.

Underneath the axle grease and tats…he’s a gentleman
Foley Sanders figured he’ll always be content with a life of cars and casual hookups. Until a run-in with Cyn, a statuesque firecracker with a hate-on for men, leaves him bewitched and intrigued-much to her annoyance.

Maybe Cynthia Nichols was a little hard on Foley, that muscular, tattooed, super-hot mechanic next door. But she’s tired of feeling defensive about her size and has sworn off men. She’s got a new job, new life, perfect plan. Foley has trouble written all over him-no way is she going to fall for his charms.

Foley might look like a bad idea, but underneath, he’s all gentleman. Too bad Cyn’s not buying it. What’s a bad boy to do when the goddess of his dreams won’t give him the time of day?

  • Shelly Laurenston Bundle

Shelly Laurenston Bundle by Shelly Laurenston

The Shelly Laurenston Bundle is $2.99! This bundle features books one and two and then six and seven of the Pride series. Some readers were concerned about reading a series out of order with a gap between books two and six, but many were reassuring that these are standalones and can be read as such.

In The Mane Event, Shelly Laurenston introduced a whole new breed of heroes–sexy, shape-shifting hunks who redefine the term Alpha male. Now, in The Beast In Him, one gorgeous lone wolf is about to meet his match. . .

Some things are so worth waiting for. Like the moment when Jessica Ward “accidentally” bumps into Bobby Ray Smith and shows him just how far she’s come since high school. Back then, Jess’s gangly limbs and bruised heart turned to jelly any time Smitty’s “all the better to ravish you with” body came near her. So, some things haven’t changed. Except now Jess is a success on her own terms. And she can enjoy a romp–or twenty–with a big, bad wolf and walk away. Easy.

Mace Llewellyn. Brendon Shaw. Two tall, gorgeous, sexy alpha heroes who are 100% male–with a little something extra. Lion-shifters, to be exact, who can unleash every woman’s animal side and still look good–make that spectacular–in a suit. . .and even better out of it. . .

NYPD cop Desiree “Dez” MacDermot knows she’s changed a lot since she palled around with her childhood buddy, Mace. But it’s fair to say that Mace has changed even more. It isn’t just those too-sexy gold eyes, or the six-four, built-like-a-Navy Seal body. It’s something in the way he sniffs her neck and purrs, making her entire body tingle. . . Meanwhile, for Tennessean Ronnie Lee Reed, New York City is the place where any girl–even one who runs with a Pack–can redefine herself. First order of business: find a mate, settle down, and stop using men for sex. Even big, gorgeous, lion shifter men like Brendon Shaw. But she needn’t worry, because now that Brendon’s set his sights on her, the predator in him is ready to pounce and never let go. . .

Seeing is deceiving. And Ric Van Holtz, the wolfishly sexy hero of Shelly Laurenston’s sizzling, wildly entertaining new tale, is nothing you expect-and everything you want…

When it comes to following her instincts, former Marine Dee-Ann Smith never holds back. And this deadly member of a shifter protection group will do anything to prove one of her own kind is having hybrids captured for dogfights. Trouble is, her too-cute rich-boy boss Ric Van Holtz insists on helping out. And his crazy-like-a-fox smarts and charming persistence are making it real hard for Dee to keep her heart safe….

He’s big, burly, and way smarter than your average shapeshifting bear. He’s also about to get trapped by own his game. . .

Lou Crushek is a reasonable, mellow, easygoing kind of guy. But once someone starts killing the scumbags he works so hard to bust, that really gets under his fur. Especially when that someone is a curvy she-tiger with a skill set that’s turning Crush’s lone-bear world upside down–and bringing his passion out of hibernation. . .

Awesome Kindle daily deals today! Just snatched up Dating-ish by Penny Reid – 1.99 & One Fell Sweep by Ilona Andrews 1.49.

  2. Emily C says:

Penny Reid’s Dating-ish (Knitting in the City Book 6) is a kindle daily deal for $1.99. I’ve had this book on my wish list for a long time but can’t remember exactly why, although I’m sure it’s because it was a recommended read here or on the podcast. Whatever the reason I’m picking it up!

  3. Joanna says:

Geek Actually: The Complete Season One, which was previously published in 13 episodes by Serial Box is on sale for $2.99. Cathy Yardley is one of four authors. It’s described as a geek girls Sex in the City which sounds really interesting. Has anybody read any of this?

Also, it’s showing up in an email I get that is usually one day deals so if it’s your catnip don’t hesitate to click.

  4. Marci says:

I’m currently listening to Laurenston’s Pride series on hoopla. The narrator of her series does a fantastic job with the characters. I’ve also really enjoyed the audiobooks of her GA Aiken Dragon Kin series.

I grabbed the bundle last year on sale and the books do work well as stand alone titles. You get frequent appearances from couples and characters from previous books. But that just made me want to search out the books with those characters’ stories. When I discovered hoopla had them available I was super excited.

  5. AlliK says:

“The Best of All Possible Worlds” by Karen Lord is on sale for $1.99 at Amazon today. This is SciFi with a romantic element and I really enjoyed it.

  6. CelineB says:

The Opposite of You by Rachel Higginson is one of Amazon’s monthly deals for $1.20. It’s one Sarah Maclean recommended for people looking for a book with a similar feel to The Hating Game.

  7. I was all set to 1-click on The Best of All Possible Worlds, but apparently I already had…a year ago. It’s won all sorts of science fiction-y awards, so go forth and grab!

And The Glassblower whispersyncs with the audible edition, if that sort of thing interests you. (It totally does me.)

  8. Briana says:

Um, it looks like The Glassblower’s follow ups are also $1.99 each.

  9. Gigi says:

Just scored Sarina Bowen’ s and Elle Kennedy’s Good Boy on sale for $1.20.

Also I DNF’d Craving. It was page after page of sex and zero character development. Also the writing style was not my cuppa.

  10. Nuha says:

I’d totally read Roadside Assistance, but the hero’s name is Foley, as in the catheter and I’ve been either putting those in (or at least, threatening patients with them) or pulling them out all year long and I can’t disconnect. The hero can’t be sexy to me if I keep thinking of old dudes with post-op urinary retention!!

  11. Maureen says:

I’ve always been a historical romance person until I started Marie Harte’s series that was recommended here at SBTB. I love this series, and it started me in a whole new direction of reading. I realized I have no interest in super rich heroes-give me a guy with a way around a car, a tractor, anything that doesn’t involve high finance, and I’m in. Oh, and a rugby ball is a huge bonus! All started by Marie Harte-I owe her a vote of thanks!
