Links: Bags, Excerpts, & New Music

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hi there! It’s time for some links! Are you ready? We hope these things give you a nice lift to your Hump Day mid-day slump and get you excited for the weekend!

Love theater? Then you’re going to want to check out these Scenery Bags:

S C E N E R Y bags are made from retired theatre backdrops. Each bag donates a portion of its profits to take kids to see theatre.

Every bag is one of a kind, and a limited edition. Once a new drop is cut and sold, they are gone forever. Your bag will have a tag inside to tell you which number bag you have out of the drop.

S C E N E R Y is committed to introducing a new generation of storytellers to theatre. Taking what would have been trash, and making it into immeasurable treasure. Thank you for being a part of it.

Right now, there’s a wait list for the bags, but I’m excited to see the variation in backdrops they use for the bags. They also look like they’d make great makeup bags!

The 2017 Buzz Books: Romance Edition is out! This edition comes with 18 excerpts of upcoming books from Eloisa James, Shelly Laurenston, and more. And…it’s free!

You can access links to download the book here.

Which excerpts are you excited to read?

Thanks to Reader Janet for alerting us to the “oddest book title” contest. One of the finalists is Nipples on My Knee:

The award was conceived in 1978 by Trevor Bounford and Bruce Robertson, co-founders of publishing solutions firm the Diagram Group, after they noticed the inaugural winner, Proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Nude Mice, while bored at the Frankfurt book fair.

As romance readers, I know we’ve all SEEN SOME THINGS. I think we can probably find a couple good contenders for the award.

Frixion Erasable Pens

I love these pens far more than is probably natural. They write smoothly, they erase for real (yes, way!), and they come in a bunch of colors. I have one with me at all times.

Going to RWA or in the Orlando area? On July 29th, come say hi to Sarah at the free and open to the public RWA Literacy Signing! Since proceeds benefit organizations that focus on literacy, books will be available to publish at the signing.

I also want to share my current favorite jam with you. Lyrics-wise, it’s about a woman setting new rules and boundaries for herself to avoid an unhealthy pattern in romantic relationships. Music video-wise, it shows a bunch of women helping each other out in resisting an ex-boyfriend’s contact. They advise one woman, who then goes on to give the same advice to a friend. The song is also incredibly catchy.

I give you “New Rules” by Dua Lipa.

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

  1. Kate says:

Those Desert Song Scenery bags are gorgeous! Probably a good thing they are sold out or I would have spent way too much.

  2. Amanda, HOLY CRAP THAT NEW RULES IS A BOP LIKE DAAAAAMN!

I just wish it had closed captions. I’m hard of hearing so making out the second half of the chorus is legit impossible. TO THE LYRICS I GO!
