  • Scoundrels of Summer

Scoundrels of Summer by Caroline Linden

Scoundrels of Summer is 99c! This is a historical romance anthology from four well-known romance authors. And…one of the stories is inspired by Beyoncé lyrics. I believe both the Linden and Ashe stories have been available previously, so if you’ve read those, that makes only two new romances in the collection.

Every scoundrel meets his match…and loses his heart. Four sexy summer novellas from the award-winning authors of At the Duke’s Wedding. All stories previously published.

Seducing the Single Lady by Maya Rodale
Susannah Grey is enjoying life as London’s most sought-after heiress until the rogue she was supposed to marry unexpectedly returns, intent on wooing her for real.
A Regency Romance inspired by the songs of Beyoncé.

A Study in Scandal by Caroline Linden
Lady Samantha Lennox is fleeing an arranged marriage when she finds herself lost, accosted, and almost drowned, only to be rescued by a handsome artist…who makes her start dreaming of happily-ever-after.
    A Scandalous novella.

Duchess of Scandal by Miranda Neville
The Duke and Duchess of Linton have lived apart ever since the first disastrous months of their marriage, until they accidentally visit the same property at the same time and the undeniable passion between them sparks back to life.

The Scoundrel and I by Katharine Ashe
Gabrielle Flood just made the worst mistake of her life. Dashing Captain Anthony Masinter came along…and made it even worse. He’s the last person on earth who can help her fix it, but disaster may be exactly what they need to fall in love.

  • The Perfect Stranger

The Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda

The Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda is $2.99! This is a thriller that Elyse just reviewed on the site and she gave it a B+:

If you want a book that will lead to Bad Decisions Book Club moments and keep you up all night with suspense and female-awesomeness, then The Perfect Stranger is the book for you.

In the masterful follow-up to the New York Times bestseller All the Missing Girls—“think: Luckiest Girl Alive, The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl” (TheSkimm)—a journalist sets out to find a missing friend, a friend who may never have existed at all.

Confronted by a restraining order and the threat of a lawsuit, failed journalist Leah Stevens needs to get out of Boston when she runs into an old friend, Emmy Grey, who has just left a troubled relationship. Emmy proposes they move to rural Pennsylvania, where Leah can get a teaching position and both women can start again. But their new start is threatened when a woman with an eerie resemblance to Leah is assaulted by the lake, and Emmy disappears days later.

Determined to find Emmy, Leah cooperates with Kyle Donovan, a handsome young police officer on the case. As they investigate her friend’s life for clues, Leah begins to wonder: did she ever really know Emmy at all? With no friends, family, or a digital footprint, the police begin to suspect that there is no Emmy Grey. Soon Leah’s credibility is at stake, and she is forced to revisit her past: the article that ruined her career. To save herself, Leah must uncover the truth about Emmy Grey—and along the way, confront her old demons, find out who she can really trust, and clear her own name.

Everyone in this rural Pennsylvanian town has something to hide—including Leah herself. How do you uncover the truth when you are busy hiding your own?

  • Raid

    Raid by Kristen Ashley

Raid by Kristen Ashley is $2.99! This is the third book in the Unfinished Hero series, but it can be read as a standalone. Readers say the book has Ashley’s trademark Alpha hero and strong heroine. But others say the book isn’t really anything new from Ashley’s previous contemporaries. The other books in the series are $3.99 each. Have you read this series?

Hanna Boudreaux has lived in the small town of Willow, Colorado all her life. The great-granddaughter of the town matriarch, she’s sweet, cute and quiet.

    Too quiet.

Hanna has a moment of epiphany when she realizes her crush for forever, Raiden Ulysses Miller, is not ever going to be hers. She sees her life as narrow and decides to do something about it.

Raiden Miller is the town of Willow’s local hero. An ex-marine with the medal to prove his hero status, he comes home, shrouded in mystery. It takes a while but, eventually, Hanna catches his eye.

But after all these years of Raid and Hanna living in the same town, the question is, why? Is Raid interested in Hanna because she’s sweet and cute? Or does Raid have something else going on?

  • Charming the Shrew

Charming the Shrew by Laurin Wittig

Charming the Shrew by Laurin Wittig is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal at Amazon only. This is the first book in the Legacy of MacLeod series and the second book is also discounted to $1.99. Readers loved the premise, but found it lacked in execution. It has a 3.7-star rating on Goodreads.

Returning home to the Scottish Highlands after battling the English, Tayg Munro receives a hero’s welcome—and a shocking ultimatum. In order to take his place as heir to the chiefdom of Culrain, he must choose a wife within the month or have one chosen for him. Angered by his family’s decree, Tayg delays the inevitable by volunteering for a mission for the king that takes him deep into the Highlands. Preoccupied by his marital obligation, the brooding warrior sets out with no hint of the fateful encounter that awaits him…

Catriona MacLeod is known throughout the Highlands as the Shrew of Assynt, thanks to her razor-sharp tongue and her unwillingness to yield to her five brothers. When she’s told that her eldest brother has promised her hand in marriage to a man she has good reason to hate, she flees into the Scottish wilderness, determined to seek the king’s intervention in her plight. When she reluctantly joins forces with a handsome traveler, she cannot anticipate the treacherous plot that will soon embroil them—nor the passion that will ignite between them.

  1. CelineB says:

Is anyone else having a problem with no longer being able to sort their Amazon wishlist by price? I can only sort mine by default and priority level. I’m not sure if this is a new layout or a problem they’re having. This is really going to make it harder to find books on sale and will probably mean I’ll buy less. That’s probably good for me, but not very smart on Amazon’s part.

  2. Mara says:

@CelineB THANK YOU for confirming I’m not nuts! I thought maybe it was just me. This has been driving me batty for weeks… You can do the sort by price in the app, but I agree, I’m much less likely to do that. So dumb move Amazon.

  3. Chris Alexander says:

I love Raid. It’s my favorite from that series.

  4. Darlynne says:

And you can still sort by price on a computer, but, yes, this is a stupid move.

  5. CelineB says:

I can’t get it to sort by price on my laptop, but I just downloaded the app on my phone (I try to keep my apps down on my phone, so I had deleted it a while back) and I could on there. I feel like it was easier to do on my laptop before it changed.

  6. MelM says:

On the Amazon boards people are claiming Amazon representatives told them this is a permanent change and that we need to complain if we want sorting back.

  7. Charl says:

I can no longer sort by price with Firefox or Edge, but I can still do it in Chrome.

  8. Lizzy says:

I bought A Study in Scandal separately a while ago because I love Caroline Linden and the Scandal series. It’s absolutely worth $.99 just for that novella.

  9. Sara says:

Thanks for the recommend. Looking forward to it. Four new authors I haven’t read and am going to be able to taste-test.

  10. ClaireC says:

Two new novellas is well-worth $.99 for me! Already read and loved the Linden novella, and according to Goodreads I’ve read the Neville one as well, but it’s not ringing much of a bell, so that one will be like new as well – bonus!

  11. Carol S says:

Oh wow, Laurin Wittig is not the same as Lauren Willig….SO CONFUSED!

  12. cleo says:

Playing to Win by Avery Cockburn is free on Amazon (it’s only available on Amazon). Ignore the goofy pen name. I really enjoyed this m/m na – it’s the 2nd in the series but it’s pretty stand alone. The Glasgow Lads is about a GLBTQ amateur football (soccer) team. This one is between a working class football player and a Scottish Lord, it’s set during the 2014 referendum on Scottish Independence and it’s an excellent antidote to all those Scottish Lairds.

  13. A note of clarification: all the novellas in SCOUNDRELS OF SUMMER have been published before. Miranda Neville’s was in DANCING IN THE DUKE’S ARMS and the others were put out individually (although may be connected to a larger series by the author).

  14. Katie says:

I just found out that Cecilia Grant’s holiday novella A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong is free on Amazon (I’m not sure how long this sale has been going on). Though certainly not seasonally appropriate, this novella was 100% my catnip, what with an uptight virgin hero and forced proximity. On top of that, I love Cecilia Grant’s writing (A Lady Awakened is one of my all-time favorite romances) and she doesn’t disappoint here.
