  • A Gentleman’s Game

A Gentleman’s Game by Theresa Romain

RECOMMENDED: A Gentleman’s Game by Theresa Romain is 99c! Redheadedgirl read this historical romance and gave it an A:

Theresa Romain basically created a series just for me, and the first full-length book just confirms it. She reached into my head and found the references and plot that would make me happiest, and gave those thoughts a beautiful cover and said, “Here!”

In Book One of Romance of the Turf, a refreshing new Regency series from rising star Theresa Romain, a mystery demanding to be solved brings unlikely allies together in more ways than one

How far will a man go

Talented but troubled, the Chandler family seems cursed by bad luck-and so Nathaniel Chandler has learned to trade on his charm. He can broker a deal with anyone from a turf-mad English noble to an Irish horse breeder. But Nathaniel’s skills are tested when his stable of trained Thoroughbreds become suspiciously ill just before the Epsom Derby, and he begins to suspect his father’s new secretary is not as innocent as she seems.

To win a woman’s secretive heart?

Nathaniel would be very surprised if he knew why Rosalind Agate was really helping his family in their quest for a Derby victory. But for the sake of both their livelihoods, Rosalind and Nathaniel must set aside their suspicions. As Derby Day draws near, her wit and his charm make for a successful investigative team…and light the fires of growing desire. But Rosalind’s life is built on secrets and Nathaniel’s on charisma, and neither defense will serve them once they lose their hearts…

  • Heir to the Duke

Heir to the Duke by Jane Ashford

RECOMMENDED: Heir to the Duke by Jane Ashford is $1.99! Several readers on Goodreads found the heroine unlikeable, but Redheadedgirl gave this one a B+:

The resolution involves some secrets, and some parenting, and a lot of growing up and being less “family fixer” and more “head of the family but let your sequel bait brothers figure their own shit out (why do you need a bishop, anyway?)”

Delightful. Didn’t give me a good book noise, but engaging and fun and hey, we don’t get to go to Brighton a lot. Yay for new places!

Nathaniel Gresham, the handsome Viscount Hargove, lives a life devoted to familial duty. As his father’s eldest son, Nathaniel’s identity remains the “heir to the Duke of Langford.” But this quiet, restrained life changes the minute he marries sweet Lady Violet Devere.

Oppressed by her family all her life, Violet is longing for her marriage vows to be spoken. Though her arranged marriage to Nathaniel was not a match made for love, they’re both looking forward to the comparative freedom of married life. And Violet is determined to show Nathaniel how to enjoy it, both in and out of the bedroom.

  • The Rebel Heir

The Rebel Heir by Elizabeth Michels

RECOMMENDED: The Rebel Heir by Elizabeth Michels is FREE! Yep, that’s right! This historical romance earned a B grade from Redheadedgirl:

I love a good revenge plot, and I love it when people stand up to their bullies, and I love dudes who enable that just by helping the heroine realize how awesome she is on her own.

The Spare Heirs Society Cordially Invites You to Meet Ash Claughbane: The Imposter

Lady Evangeline Green is living a lie. To please her family, she masquerades as the perfect debutante…until she meets the wickedly charming Lord Crosby. With him, there are no rules. She’s finally free to do as she desires-but freedom comes with a price, and Lord Crosby is not what he seems…

Ash is not Lord Crosby. He’s a con artist, a noble Spare Heir living off his silver tongue. When the Green family ruined his, he swore he’d make them pay, and he never doubted his devotion to revenge…until he met Evangeline. Now, caught in a web of lies, torn between duty and desire, what’s a con to do but deceive all of London and steal the one lady who dared match wits with the devil himself?

  • The Way to a Duke’s Heart

The Way to a Duke’s Heart by Caroline Linden

The Way to a Duke’s Heart by Caroline Linden is $3.99! This is the third book in The Truth About the Duke series, and the previous book is also on sale. Readers loved the couple, but those who have read through the entire series, felt disappointed by how quickly all the loose ends were wrapped up. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.

Charles de Lacey, Lord Gresham, is running out of time, running from his responsibilities, and running from love.

Destined to be a duke, Charles de Lacey has led a life of decadent pleasure, free of any care for propriety or responsibility. It comes as a terrible shock to learn that he might be stripped of everything, thanks to his father’s scandalous past. He has no choice but to find the blackmailer who would ruin him—and his only link to the villain is a woman who may be part of the plot…

To save his fortune and title, he vows he’ll stop at nothing—in fact, he’s all too eager to unravel the beautiful, tart-tongued Tessa Neville. She intrigues him and tempts him like no other lady ever has. With only his heart to guide him, and keenly aware that his entire future is at stake, Charles must decide: is she the woman of his dreams, or an enemy in disguise?

Nora Roberts “The Obsession” is $4.99 on Amazon’s Daily Kindle Deals.

Just spent the morning cleaning my oven. I think I deserve a couple one click treats. Thanks!

  3. SusanE says:

Heir to the Duke is actually a sequel to The Bargain (written in 1997) which includes the other brothers’ stories as well as some of the heir’s courtship that happens before this book starts.
I would recommend reading The Bargain first. The hero starts out kind of full of himself, thinking he knows everything, but he eventually gets it and the end is very rewarding.

  4. SusanE says:

Oops, I was wrong, there are still some sequel bait brothers left after Heir to the Duke. I forgot he had so many brothers!

  5. CelineB says:

I Wish You Were Mine by Lauren Layne is .99 at least at Amazon. I love this series but decided to get this one from the library since I wasn’t sure about the premise of the hero being the heroine’s ex-brother-in-law. It ended up being so good! I highly recommend it and all the books in this series.

  6. Karin says:

“The Bargain” is better than “Heir to the Duke”, imo, but I’m hooked on the whole series. I’m about to start reading “What the Duke Doesn’t Know” and I think there are still 2 brothers left! Can bishops get married though?

  7. Joanna says:

@Karin. If he is a bishop in the Church of England as he probably would be in a Regency historical, then yes. They don’t take vows of celibacy like Catholic clergy. I haven’t read these books but my guess would be the famiy is Church of England as most powerful families converted after Henry VIII’s reformation.
