RWA NATIONAL CONFERENCE: Hyatt Regency has Opened Rooms

I just did some checking and it seems that the Hyatt Regency in Dallas, location of one giant Romance conference, has rooms available – though I am only staying from 12 July through 15 July so I didn’t check for the night of the 11th.

Should you be interested in staying at the conference hotel, the conference rate for the night was available and there was no problem securing a reservation for me as of 11am this morning Eastern Time.

So – if you’re at the Adam’s Mark or another hotel and want to switch, you can call the hotel directly at 214-651-1234 and ask for reservations for the conference.

See you there!

I really hope it stops raining by the time y’all come down.

But, then again, if it does stop raining, it’s going to be hot as balls outside.

So which would you prefer?  Floods or the threat of heatstroke?

  2. SB Sarah says:

I prefer air conditioning. Lost and lots and lots of air conditioning.

And also Shiner Bock, the best beer ever, but I’m not really allowed to drink any. *sigh*

  3. Strategerie says:

Sarah, it’s really nice of you all to post that there’s availability at the Hyatt. I have a room, but I can understand the frustration of the average conference goer on trying to get in there…

In the meantime, I hope the rains slow somewhat. I’m not looking forward to the heat, but hopefully, the Hyatt has air conditioning.

  4. Rosemary says:

I’m sorry about the restriction of beer, but I’ve always thought Shiner Bock tasted like collard greens.  I prefer Shiner Blonde.

So, you don’t want to hear about all the fabulous bars?  Would that be too much temptation?

  5. SB Sarah says:

Ooh, I like Shiner Blonde, too. Pretty much all the Shiners, which aren’t available here in NJ, much to my despair.

    Fabulous bars?

    *pout*

  6. Rosemary says:

Yeah, the bars that serve Shiner in cans?  The ones that provide markers for you to leave your words of wisdom on whatever surface isn’t moving quickly enough to get away?  The ones that have a jukebox as opposed to a DJ?  The ones that serve burgers the size of your head?

  7. SB Sarah says:

Burgers the size of my head?! NOW THAT I CAN GET BEHIND! Literally!

    Bring on the info!

  8. Rosemary says:

    Adair’s Saloon
    2624 Commerce St
    Dallas, TX 75226

They don’t have menus, but you can get a burger, grilled cheese, grilled chicken, texas fries or chips.

The burgers are half pound, and come with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion and mustard unless you say otherwise.

They are open for lunch, and there’s live music every night for those who aren’t incubating the future of America.  It is a dive of the best sort.

  9. SB Sarah says:

Those that are incubated should experience live music, right? Gotta love burgers the size of your head. Thanks for the recommendations1

    Now I’m hungry again.

  10. Rosemary says:

Just beware the smoke.  It’s not banned down here, and some people tend to view it as their second full-time job.  Particularly when under the influence of whiskey.

(Smoking is banned in restaurants, but not bars.)

  11. SB Sarah says:

Oh now that is good to know! Smoking is banned in bars and restaurants in NJ and NYC for the most part, so it’s good to know that bar hopping might not be on my top 10 list. But big honking burgers? I’m ok with that!

  12. Rosemary says:

    Glad I could provide!

  13. Bron says:

So, is there going to be a gathering of Smart Bitches at Dallas? When and where??

  14. Candy says:

There aren’t any plans yet for an official Smart Bitch Gathering at RWA National this year, though we could certainly attempt to organize one. Who all is interested? We could recognize each other by whispering a secret passphrase to each other—something like “The oiled man-titty flies at midnight.”

  15. smartmensab-tch says:

Yes, let’s gather with a secret password including the word mantitty!

I live in Dallas.  BRING YOUR UMBRELLA.  We’re having very unusual summer weather with on and off rain, highs in the 80s, and humidity. Usually in July, it’s blistering hot and dry.

NOTE: Most indoor public places in Dallas are GLACIALLY airconditioned. (It’s a Texas thing – you wouldn’t understand.) If you tend to get cold, bring a sweater and some closed shoes. Lightweight pants to wear might be a good idea too.

hee hee hee…I’ve got a go-to guy getting me some signatures from that…I’m so psyched!
