  • The Rogue Not Taken

The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean

The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean is $2.99 right now. This is book 1 in the Scandal & Scoundrel series, and book 2, A Scot in the Dark, comes out 30 August 2016. Elyse reviewed this book and gave it an A, saying,

Let me start by saying that The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean is my favorite book of hers to date. If you’ve read her, or know me, then you know that I just said a thing.

I mean, there is a scene in this book where the hero sensually rubs honey on the heroine’s body while she dreamily describes the bookstore she’ll own one day.

    Damn.

And if you want a drink to go with your reading, I did a Covers & Cocktails post for it as well!

    Lady Sophie’s Society Splash

When Sophie, the least interesting of the Talbot sisters, lands her philandering brother-in-law backside-first in a goldfish pond in front of all society, she becomes the target of very public aristocratic scorn. Her only choice is to flee London, vowing to start a new life far from the aristocracy. Unfortunately, the carriage in which she stows away isn’t saving her from ruin . . . it’s filled with it.

    Rogue’s Reign of Ravishment!

Kingscote, “King,” the Marquess of Eversley, has never met a woman he couldn’t charm, resulting in a reputation far worse than the truth, a general sense that he’s more pretty face than proper gentleman, and an irate summons home to the Scottish border. When King discovers stowaway Sophie, however, the journey becomes anything but boring.

    War? Or More?

He thinks she’s trying to trick him into marriage. She wouldn’t have him if he were the last man on earth. But carriages bring close quarters, dark secrets, and unbearable temptation, making opposites altogether too attractive . . .

  • Tremaine’s True Love

Tremaine’s True Love by Grace Burrowes

Tremaine’s True Love by Grace Burrowes is 99c! This is the first book in her newest series and a RITA nominee. A few readers found the romance a bit boring and slow, while others loved the characterization of the heroine and hero.

    Reader Qualisign gave it A-:

When I saw Grace Burrowes’ Tremaine’s True Love on the 2016 RITA review list, I grabbed it like a can of insect repellant in high bug season in the Northeast back-country. While I love a well written historical, until this review, I had never read anything by Burrowes. However, I had accidentally purchased a couple of her books a year ago when I was getting ready to write a 2015 RITA review of one of Tonya Burrows’ books. After realizing that the 2015 Burrows’ (no e) book dealt with SEALs and PTSD, I let the Burrowes’ (with an e) books sink down the list of my tbr e-pile, where they then faded into the ether. That was an error!

And Reader K Smith gave it an A-:

I beg you: read the book, don’t think about it. It is delightful, it is entrancing, it is perfectly crafted, emotionally satisfying entertainment. It is not morally improving. Art doesn’t have to be.

Tremaine St. Michael is firmly in trade and seeks only to negotiate the sale of some fancy sheep with the Earl of Bellefonte.

The earl’s sister, Lady Nita, is pragmatic, hard-working, and selfless, though Tremaine senses she’s also tired of her charitable obligations and envious of her siblings’ marital bliss.

Tremaine, having been raised among shepherds, can spot another lonely soul, no matter how easily she fools her own family. Neither Tremaine nor Nita is looking for love, but love comes looking for them.

  • Risking It All

Risking It All by Tessa Bailey

RECOMMENDED: Risking It All by Tessa Bailey is 99c! After I finished Bailey’s Broke & Beautiful series, I went on a tear through her backlist. Word of warning, this contemporary romance does deal with criminal characters (mainly the hero) and at times, feels more like an erotic romance. It also has a detective heroine going undercover to find her brother’s killer. Also, if you love A+ dirty talk, Bailey is definitely your girl!

NYPD detective Seraphia Newsom will avenge her brother’s death at any cost. Even if it means insinuating herself into a rough, Brooklyn street gang and going so far undercover, she’s not sure she’ll be able to get out. Every minute she spends in their midst means the clock ticking down on her life, especially when she overhears something that could get her killed.

Bowen Driscol is the heir to a crime enterprise. He never asked for the job, but with his father behind bars, he has no choice but to step in and keep the operation running. But when the NYPD blackmails him with a piece of damning information in exchange for aiding an undercover cop, he finds himself on the other side of the law for the first time in his life.

Bowen knows the danger Sera is in, and keeping her safe trumps saving his own ass. The problem? She can’t know he’s on her side. And there’s the matter of the seriously inconvenient heat sparking between them that’s incinerating his resistance. But Sera only sees Bowen’s past, and men like him are the reason her brother is dead. If they’re to get out alive, he’ll have to risk exposing the man beneath, and hope to hell he doesn’t blow the whole operation in the process.

  • Beautiful Wreck

    Beautiful Wreck by Larissa Brown

Beautiful Wreck by Larissa Brown is 99c! This is a time travel romance with Vikings! Readers loved the characterization, but found the beginning of the book to be hard to get into and a little slow in terms of pacing. However, it has a 4-star rating on Goodreads. Have you read this one?

In a bleak future built on virtual reality, Ginn is a romantic who yearns for something real. She designs environments for people who play at being Vikings. But when her project goes awry, she’s stranded in the actual 10th century, on a storybook farm in Viking Iceland.

Heirik is the young leader of his family, honored by the men and women who live on his land. But he is feared and isolated because of a terrible curse. Ginn and Heirik are two people who never thought they would find a home in someone else’s heart.

When forces rise against them to keep them apart, Ginn is called on to decide—will she give up the brutal and beautiful reality of the past? Or will she have the courage to traverse time and become more of a Viking than she ever imagined?

Just a heads up that Sylvester by Georgette Heyer is the kindle daily deal today

  2. Holly Bush says:

Tremaine’s True Love is one of my top 2 of her books. This one really is a home run and yet it is just a story of a man and a woman. Loved it.

  3. mel burns says:

Tremaine’s True Love was a turning point in my complicated relationship with Grace Burrowes. It is a wonderful love story.

Now….The Rogue Not Taken I hated with the passion of a thousand suns. Awful book IMHO.

Sylvester is a very good Heyer.

  4. Ren Benton says:

I read The Rogue Not Taken last week, and while it didn’t qualify for an OMG BEST BOOK EVAR squee, I didn’t have any complaints, which elevates it above 99% of the books I buy. (My DNF collection is enormous.)

I gave up on a book before that in which “He could feel the orgasm erupting from the bottom of his soul.” I can’t even copy and paste that with a straight face. God help the next man I’m with because that’s the standard I’m holding him to. “Yes, yes, I know that was amazing, but did you feel your orgasm ERUPTING from the bottom of your SOUL?”

  5. LML says:

Add me to the fans of Tremain’s True Love. I enjoy Ms Burrowes’ books but think this is my favorite of hers thus far. I also think I missed the earlier stories of a character or two… Does anyone else wonder how this prolific author manages to write so many good books and maintain a day job? Awe.

  6. Marci says:

The second book in Tessa Bailey’s series, Up In Smoke, is also 99c.

  7. Kate Y says:

Barnes & Noble is having a sale on 60 romance books – “Small Town Romance Sale”. Apparently the first title in 30 series is free, and the second title is $0.99. Sadly I’m not familiar with any of the authors – what do you think?

  8. Theresa says:

Looks like Amazon may be matching the Barnes and Noble sale. I checked a few of the books and they were free on Amazon.
