The Jennifer Crusie Collection by Jennifer Cruise

The Jennifer Crusie Collection is $11.99! Special thanks to Reader Marci for telling us about this kickass sale! This set features seven full-length novels, which averages to around $1.72 a book. Yeah, you read that right! We’re pretty big fans of Crusie here at the Bitchery and if you haven’t had a chance to give her a shot, this is a great opportunity! For those of you who have read her books, which is your favorite?

Here together for the first time in a stunning eBook bundle, seven novels from beloved New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Crusie:

    Tell Me Lies

Maddie Faraday’s life would be perfect–if it weren’t for: her cheating husband, her suspicious daughter, her gossipy mother, her secretive best friend, her nosy neighbors, and that guy she lost her virginity to twenty years ago…
Jennifer Cruise dishes up a funny, sexy, suspenseful novel about small-town secrets, big-time betrayals and the redemptive power of love, laughter and chocolate brownies.

    Crazy For You

Quinn McKenzie is dating the world’s nicest guy, she has a good job, she’s surrounded by family and friends, and she’s bored to the point of insanity. But when Quinn decides to change her life by adopting a stray dog, everything begins to spiral out of control. Now she’s coping with dognapping, breaking and entering, seduction, sabotage, stalking, more secrets than she really wants to know, and two men who are suddenly crazy . . . for her.

    Welcome To Temptation

Sophie Dempsey is content living a quiet life filming wedding videos until an assignment brings her to Temptation, Ohio. Sophie is from the wrong side of the tracks and everything in Temptation is a little too right. And when she has a run-in with the town’s unnervingly sexy mayor, Phineas Tucker, making a little movie turns out to be more than a little dangerous.

    Fast Women

When down-on-her-luck divorcée Nell Dysart meets determined-to-dominate detective Gabe McKenna they find out that falling in love can be murder…

    Faking It

Tilda has a history of forgery she’s trying to forget. Davy has a knack for scamming he’s trying to resist. But one fateful night, their good intentions go bad. And what they get up to is downright immoral, illegal, and irresistible.

    Bet Me

It’s such a shock when Minerva Dobbs’ extremely logical choice for a boyfriend, David, dumps her three weeks before her perfect sister’s wedding. So when Min overhears David make a bet with his old nemesis–the gorgeous and successful Calvin Morrisey–that Cal can’t get Min into bed in a month, she decides that fate has just handed her a stacked deck: she can make Cal sweat his sex appeal and get a date to the wedding, if she plays along and doesn’t fold…

    Maybe This Time

Andie Miller is ready to move on with her life. She wants to marry her fiancé and leave behind everything in her past, especially her ex-husband, North Archer. But North asks one last favor: Since the death of a distant cousin, he’s become the guardian of two orphans who have already driven away three nannies. North needs someone to take care of the situation–and he knows Andie can handle anything. As Andie copes with the ghosts of her past and present, she begins to see that what she wants is the same thing that everyone in the house wants–a second chance–and that maybe this time she’ll get it.

  • The Mistake

    The Mistake by Elle Kennedy

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy is $1.99! I loved the first book in the series, The Deal, which we featured on sale earlier. For those who bought the first one, now they can grab the second one! The Mistake features another hockey player hero and a second chance romance. A few reviewers on Goodreads didn’t like the heroine very much and I feel the same. However, many loved the continuation of the series. It has a 4.1-star rating.

He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

  • A Fighting Chance

A Fighting Chance by Shannon Stacey

A Fighting Chance by Shannon Stacey is available for preorder for $1.99! This is a contemporary second chance romance with an MMA hero and I am all about this. Unfortunately, the book doesn’t release until February 1st, but I compare it to drunk one-clicking. You’ll forget all about this purchase and then, surprise! There’s a present from your past self!

All work and no play makes Adeline Kendrick a dull girl, so when she heads to a casino resort for a friend’s bachelorette weekend, she’s ready to have a good time. Until she runs into Brendan Quinn, professional fighter and the one who got away—the one her family drove away—and things take a turn for the interesting.

Running into his ex won’t shake Brendan. Even if it brings up the old pain of loving her when she was only slumming. Even if she looks really good. In fact, what better way to get over the past than to take advantage of the still-sizzling chemistry running hot between them? He’s there to win an MMA fight, but he won’t say no to a little physical relief of a different kind.

But when the weekend is over, Adeline isn’t ready to give up her second chance that easily. Brendan is still the one for her, no matter what her family thinks. Now, if only she can convince him of that…

  • No Matter What

No Matter What by Erin Nicholas

No Matter What by Erin Nicholas is $1.99! This is the first book in her Billionaire Bargainsseries. The hero is a billionaire with a daughter who happens to be in a wheelchair. The heroine is a physical therapist. You can connect the dots. The book is heavy on the emotional side, which readers loved. However, a few didn’t feel the romance was very believable. The book also has a 3.9-star rating on GoodReads.

The best doesn’t come cheap…and this time it could cost him his heart.

Handsome billionaire Adam Steele is good. Good at getting his way. If nothing else, money always works—until he realizes he can’t buy his daughter’s way out of her new wheelchair. Three private physical therapists later, he’s almost given up on Emily walking again. Then he meets Dr. Jaden Monroe. And his match.

Feisty physical therapist Jaden Monroe has never met a man quite like Adam. She’s not sure if it’s his I’m-in-charge attitude or the heat in his eyes when he looks at her, but she finds herself wanting to say yes to anything he asks. Like when he asks her to help his daughter walk again. Of course, the million dollars he offers—just enough to finish the pediatric rehab wing Jaden has been working for and dreaming of—is hard to say no to as well.

But Jaden didn’t anticipate a teen whose injuries are more than physical. Or a man so passionate and devoted—and as tenacious as she is. As she and Adam fight their attraction, the only thing harder than keeping her promise will be keeping a hold on her heart.

    Also on sale at Amazon

Everything I Left Unsaid by Molly O’Keefe $1.99
Virtuous Scoundrel (#2 Regency Romp Trilogy) by Maggie Fenton $1.99
30 Days by Christine D’Abo (mentioned by Esi Sogah on DBSA podcast) $2.99

  2. Judy W. says:

My Favorite Jennifer Crusie is “Bet Me”, hands down. Sometimes the characters in her books can actually lack a little character in themselves and this book doesn’t have that problem. My second favorite isn’t in the set. It’s Anyone But You, an older heroine- younger hero story. Welcome to Temptation would probably rate third for me.

  3. Amy says:

I just one clicked the Crusie so fast even though I own them all in paperback and some of them in ebook form thanks!

  4. Amy says:

I re-read Welcome to Temptation and Bet Me at least once a year, as well as Faking It.

  5. Amanda says:

@Judy W: Welcome to Temptation is probably my second! Though my first is Agnes & the Hitman, which I was sad about not being included in collection.

  6. MirandaB says:

Of the listed, I really liked Maybe this Time, but I’m with Amanda on Agnes and the Hitman being my favorite.

  7. Pghbekka says:

Faking It is my all time favorite, with Bet Me coming a close 2nd!

  8. CelineB says:

Thanks, Peg E! I’ve been waiting for that one to go on sale.

  9. cleo says:

Bet Me and Faking It are my two favorites, with Charlie All Night and Getting Rid of Bradley in a tie for second and Cinderella Deal a close third.

I’ve fallen behind on reading Shannon Stacey books, but I do like her heroes.

  10. Susan says:

If I hadn’t already painstakingly collected every Jennifer Crusie novel out there, I’d have one-clicked that sale before this page had finished loading!

Agnes & The Hitman is hands-down my favorite, but I love Bet Me, Fast Women, Welcome to Temptation, and nearly everything else she’s written. She’s just so funny.

  11. Ele says:

Welcome to Temptation and Faking It are about the best romantic comedies I’ve read. These have some of the most memorable heroines I’ve ever encountered–truly one-of-a-kind. Honorable mention to Crazy for You as well–the heroine is a bit tame but there is a great anti-hero. Crusie’s small-town dramas are truly wacky, I love them!

  12. Becky M says:

Welcome to Temptation is one of my go-to re-reads–absolutely love it!

  13. kkw says:

My favorite Crusie is probably Welcome to Temptation because it’s the first one I read, but really it’s whichever of her books is closest to me at the moment.

Anyone know why she doesn’t publish so much these days, and what we can do to make her?

  14. Vicki says:

Is it just me or does the woman on the cover of No Matter What look like a plastic Barbie?

  15. Kelly S. says:

In the boxed set, Bet Me is my favorite and was my first Cruise and it brought me back to reading romance. She’s good. Welcome To Temptation and Faking It would be next. I agree with others that Agnes and The Hitman is wonderful, just reread it. Also, love Getting Rid of Bradley.

@kkw If you stop by Crusie’s bog at arghink.com you can keep up with what’s happening. She has about 6 books in progress at this time. She was derailed a bit with health problems, a move, construction on the new place, and teaching at McDaniels College. There’s hope she’ll publish again but I find reading her blog helps give me hits of snark like the ones I love in her books.

  16. jw says:

    > expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies

Gross gross gross. Man, I can really do without the rampant slut shaming in romance sometimes. What the hell is wrong if someone hooks up with a star hockey player who’s attractive and how is she any better just because she’s a ~shy butterfly~? Fuck that noise.

  17. jw says:

Not to be extra cranky about it, but I actually admire women who know what they want and go for it. If you want to bang the hot hockey player, go do it. If you don’t want to, or have reservations about him, or want a relationship, that’s fine too. Why the need to describe women with different lifestyles with such dehumanizing language as “puck bunnies who roll over and beg”? Are they really doing anything wrong? Does being a “groupie” make them dirty? Does engaging in casual sex with an attractive man make them Bad Girls With Daddy Issues? Are we really going to speak about women in the same way that a guy who calls himself “slutwhisperer” does? (http://www.marieclaire.com/sex-love/a14731/the-slut-whisperer-kirill-bichutsky/)

Honestly, in romance when men are called out for being playboys, the censure actually falls squarely on the women they sleep with instead and these faceless women are used to raise the man’s cachet. Ooohh he’s desirable but he chose *you.*

I know I’m judging by a small blurb, but often the kind of language used in blurbs is always a pretty good indication of the type of attitude in the book itself. Although, if you’ve read this, feel free to correct me.

  18. Persnickety says:

I have really struggled to read Jennifer cruisie books- and I have tried. I have a borrowed copy of welcome to temptation, but still no. However, I Do like bet me, but am glad that wasn’t the first one I tree (I would have bought the backlist and been oh so sad)

  19. Lora says:

Yay! Bet me is an all time favorite and I only have my Crusies in paperback. /shuffles off to purchase/

  20. Elspeth says:

My favourite Crusie is “Anyone But You”. Especially Fred.

  21. Ellie says:

@jw, I read it and the slut shaming in the book is not rampant. The hero goes so far as to say that he dislikes Piper, the main puck bunny, not bc of her sleeping around but because a)she’s a turbobitch- which is later proved in the story- and b)she doesn’t respect his lack of interest in her- ie, he has repeatedly turned her down but she is undeterred.

  22. HJ says:

Very disappointed that the Crusie Collection is not available in the UK. I adore her books; they’re especially good in audio.

  23. jw says:

@Ellie, ahh that’s good to know. Is piper’s entire character just based off her being dramatically spiteful to the heroine to advance the plot? I am bothered by that trope too honestly. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to include something like that necessarily but it’s just very… 80s high school movie.

I dunno, maybe because I’m still close to my college years. For me, college is a time of classism, race and mental health issues, but I actually knew a girl who was edged out of her top tier sorority and even then, they did it ever so subtly until she left on her own but couldn’t point to a single incident.

  24. Gin says:

@HJ: Crusie posted at her blog today that the UK rights to these stories were recently returned to St. Martin’s Press, and she thinks the collection will be available in the UK as soon as the rights paperwork is completed, but she didn’t have any details.

  25. Tam says:

I’ve read all of these, but my favourite Crusie is always ‘The Cinderella Deal.’

  26. Stacy Hoff says:

In the Jenny Crusie anthology, I’m voting for “Bet Me.” Good stuff, people, good stuff.
