John Eyre by Mimi Matthews is $2.99! This is a retelling of the Bronte classic and has similar elements of a Gothic historical romance. Have you read this one? Carrie read it and gave it a C+ in a Lightning Review.
Vessel of Starfire by Allison Carr Waechter is $2.99! Thanks to everyone who let us know about this sale after featuring it on Cover Awe. This one is more of a YA or NA title and, while there is a queer romance in the book, I believe the cover subjects are sisters. Do correct me in the comments below if you’ve read it!

I love the Kat Holloway series to the point that I’ve recommended and purchased copies for people all around me. I knew I’d like this one, and I did, indeed. The challenge here is that this is the fifth book in the series, so identifying the audience for a review is tricky and tends to slow down my ability to write said review. RECOMMENDED: The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley is $1.99! I loved this book and give it five stars on Goodreads. It’s easily one of my favorite historical romance and it recently showed up in the comments of our Rec League: Unassuming, Underestimated Heroes post. However, some readers didn’t feel any love necessarily between the hero and heroine. For those who have read this, what did you think?
RECOMMENDED: Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly is $1.99! Carrie did a Lightning Review of it, and she gave it an A:
This is a gripping read that keeps its focus on the intelligence and perseverance of the women who helped win the war and who made space flight possible. Its only flaw is that it’s so admiring of the women in question that it never presents them as having any imperfections. Otherwise, this is an entertaining and fascinating look at American history and the overlooked women of color who were a crucial part of it.
RECOMMENDED: Death Below Stairs by Jennifer Ashley is $1.99! It was a previous book club pick and Sarah has great things to say about the series:
I love the whole series and it’s on my short (very short) list of books to give to friends who are grieving. Competence porn, women looking after one another, and a wonderful set of characters. And food porn too. High grade. Proceed with caution if hungry or do yourself a big gifty favor and read with snacks.
