RECOMMENDED: Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai is still $1.99! This angsty contemporary romance has been recommended on several podcast episodes and received an A grade from Redheadedgirl:
So much angst. So much pathos. EVERYTHING HAPPENS SO MUCH.
The Heiress Hunt by Joanna Shupe is $1.99! This is book one in Shupe’s latest historical romance series. Elyse recently reviewed this one and gave it a C-. I think Elyse and I both agree that Shupe does a wonderful job about giving us tantalizing sequel bait.
This book messed me up. Yes, I read it while I was going through a rough time, but the point stands: this is an emotionally intense book. The problem is that it is so well-written that it’s also un-put-downable so the emotional intensity is unrelenting.

Even though at first I found this book to be slow going, I came to appreciate it for its intersectional feminism and its unabashed adoration of all the science and math that goes into making space flight possible.

RECOMMENDED: Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik is $2.99! This is a sci-fi romance and I absolutely loved it. Be warned that it does have a bit of a pushy alpha hero. You can read my A- here:
I am so incredibly happy that this book is in the world, especially after feeling like I’ve exhausted all my sci-fi romance options. Polaris Rising is exciting. It’s funny. It’s fan-fucking-tastic. My quibbles are minor in comparison to the joyful Good Book Noises I made while reading this.

Among my favorite things about Laurenston’s writing is how very affirming and inspiring and a whole lot of fun it is, because angry, fearless women make room for themselves, they get shit done, and they’re the heroines. More honey badgers, please.
Nitpicks aside, Open House is a shining example of what novellas can accomplish. High word count isn’t necessary for the emotional resonance of numerous complex issues. I enthusiastically recommend Open House to any reader looking to laugh and cry while reading a short contemporary romance.
The Richmond Thief by Lisa Boero is 99c! Lara, who is now a reviewer for the site, wrote a previous guest review for this one and it earned a B+:
I was bumbling along in a reading rut, neither excited nor bored, just, well… fine. Then, Lady Trent came along and blew me right out of my rut and into reading heaven. I love her! I want to be her! I want to be her friend! And yes, when talking about her ONLY exclamation marks will do!
