Foolish Bride by A.S. Fenichel is 99c at Amazon and Kobo! This is a second chance romance between two people who were supposed to get married. Some readers mentioned that the dialogue felt a bit too modern for a historical romance, but others really liked the heroine.
Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey is 99c! This is a standalone contemporary romance and one that I’m excited about because I absolutely love Charleston, SC. It’s sitting on my Kindle as we speak! Some readers were conflicted about the fact that the hero was indeed ready to marry his fiance before everything went tits up. But I also recommend Bailey for people who love hot sex scenes and dirty talking.
The Matchmaker’s Playbook by Rachel Van Dyken is $1.99 at Amazon for their Kindle Daily Deals! This is a new adult romance and the Kindle in Motion edition. From Amazon:
Kindle in Motion books include art, animation, or video features that can be viewed on certain Fire tablets and the free Kindle app for iOS and Android. You can switch features on or off at any time.
It sounds interesting and, if you’ve read a book with this feature, let me know what you think! The next book in the Wingmen Inc series is also on sale. And both books have been picked up by PassionFlix! This one is due out mid-March.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer is $2.99! It’s a Kindle Daily Deal today and is being price-matched. This is the first book in the Lunar Chronicles series. Set in New Beijing, a fictional world of the future, Cinder is influenced by several fairy tales, so if you’re a sucker for retellings, you may want to give this is a try. The first book does end on a cliffhanger, but the next one is on sale! The original, scifi setting really shines according to readers, though the “plot twists” are a little predictable. It has a 4.1-star rating on GoodReads.
Maybe This Time by Jennifer Snow is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with a single mom heroine and a hockey coach hero. Readers say the romance is low on angst, if that’s your bag. However, some readers didn’t agree with some of the heroine’s actions. If you like Snow’s contemporaries, some of her other books are also on sale!
September is upon us! And I can start to feel fall in the air. Oh please, dear god, let fall get here soon. Though I’m a Floridian, the heat and I are not friends and I do enjoy having seasons in New England, despite my allergies. While fall hasn’t quite arrived and summer is still holding on, I wanted to create a drink that would blend two of the seasons. Destined for a King by Ashlyn … Continue reading Covers & Cocktails Giveaway: Kingsbane→
New month! New books! We have over twenty books in September that we’re excited to get into our hands, but here are some major releases coming out that aren’t on our radar, though they may be on yours: MaryJanice Davidson starts a new series with Deja Who . Anna Todd begins spin-off series with Nothing More . The ninth Kate Daniels book comes out – Magic Binds! Once Broken Faith is out and is the tenth book in the October Daye … Continue reading September’s New Releases→
Bound to Be a Groom by Megan Mulry is $2.99! It’s $1.49 at All Romance. This is a historical erotic romance, with F/F, M/M, M/F, and F/F/M/M action. Yep. Something for everyone, though I definitely suggest reading the jacket copy so you can see the division of romance and who’s into whom. There is also a dominant woman paired with a male submissive. I’m also honestly really tempted to buy this for myself. Readers definitely mentioned that the book skewed more toward sex than plot.
The Countess Conspiracy by Courtney Milan is 99c at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! This is a historical romance and the third book in the Brothers Sinister series. Carrie gave it a B-:
I wanted a book about women and science and I got that, but it was all mixed in with a completely different book about emotional trauma and recovering from sexual and emotional abuse. They were both good books but I think I would have preferred to read them separately, not mixed together into one rather crowded story.
This is a huge month for book releases. HUGE! We have twenty books this time and our TBR piles are just getting bigger and bigger. So much for Spring cleaning. And of course, don’t forget to tell us what new releases you’re excited about this month!
What a Lady Craves by Ashlyn Macnamara is 99c! This is a historical romance and we’ve talked about (more like ogled) Macnamara’s cover designs on a previous podcast. For fans of second chance romances, this may be for you. But many readers had issues with the hero and his actions. Have you read this one?
