We’re back with another Rec League. This request was sent in by Lisa through our Patreon, I believe: This may be more difficult but do you have any recommendations for romances with a dominant night setting? I can barely find any, but bonus points if they aren’t paranormal or ghost as I’m looking more for people who just live most of their lives at night due to their work, or naturally being night owls. A … Continue reading The Rec League: Night Owls→
Welcome back! If you’re in the states, I hope you had a lovely long weekend. I went to my friend’s childhood beach. It wasn’t exactly beach weather in New England, but we still had a fun time! Windy beach walks, kite flying, and a couple rounds of a Bananagrams with Whiteclaws. Also, it’s June! … Sarah and I play Jackbox games on Twitch (though we’re taking June off!) and in a game of Fibbage, we … Continue reading Links: Cats, Movie News, & More→
Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo is $2.99! This was mentioned in a previous Hide Your Wallet and is a lovely YA historical fiction with a F/F romance. It was also a staff pick at the bookstore where I work!
Shana: When Tara showed me the blurb for an opposites-attract rom-com set in a sex toy store, I jumped on the chance to read it together. I’m glad I did, because Satisfaction Guaranteed is my first official Squee of 2021. Tara: Isn’t it the freaking cutest? This book made me laugh out loud and gave me so many happy sighs. But let’s start by telling everyone what it’s about. When Cade’s aunt Ruth dies, she … Continue reading Satisfaction Guaranteed by Karelia Stetz-Waters→
The Bride Test is so beautiful and Hoang was right when she said it was impossible not to love Esme. She’s tenacious and battles against her fear of failure, of judgement, and of her own self-doubt, to become this confident and self-assured woman. This Bride Test has only solidified my love for Hoang’s romances; they are truly a gift to the genre.
This HaBO request comes from Kebra, who is looking for this romance: I read a book in the 90s that I would swear was written by Anne Stuart (maybe) but I can’t remember the title. Here’s what I know: The hero’s name is Mitch and he’s a D.A. He’s also deaf in one ear – I think it was a chigger or some such disgusting creature. The heroine’s father is on trial for financial fraud. … Continue reading HaBO: Mitch Convicted Her Dad→
If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), but we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading June 2021 New Releases, Part One→
Project Duchess by Sabrina Jeffries is still on sale for 99c! This historical romance is the first book in the Duke Dynasty series. I also made a cocktail for this one! Jeffries books are hit or miss for me. What do you think?
Hey! It’s time for Cover Snark! From Cheryl: This is for cover snark because it’s so very very confusing. Sarah: I agree, very confusing. But I do like that bra! Elyse: I thought she just had a really fuzzy throw blanket. Tara: Me too, Elyse! Lara: Points for semi-original placement of wolf? the new throw blanket pose? Catherine: the wolf looks like he has a headache, and I don’t blame him. From Rachel: It just … Continue reading Cover Snark: Just What→
I cannot emphasize enough how hungry this book will make you.
Accidentally Engaged might be my top pick for “don’t read while hungry.” Between our heroine Reena’s bread baking (there’s rye, there’s challah, there’s an ongoing battle with a sourdough starter) and her Indian and East African cooking, I was craving a feast pretty much the whole time I was reading this book.
Love and Fury: A Novel of Mary Wollstonecraft is one of those books that feels as though it was written just for me. As a Mary Wollstonecraft fan, I’m always happy to see her getting some attention above and beyond her role as the famous Mary Shelley’s mother (Full disclosure: I am also a fan of Mary Shelley). This historical fiction novel tells Mary Wollestonecraft’s story from when she first stands up to her father … Continue reading Love and Fury by Samantha Silva→
