If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), and we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading June 2022 New Releases, Part One→
I never thought I’d say this, but The Hellion’s Waltz is just too darn nice. This historical f/f romance is beautifully written and full of kind, courageous, intelligent characters. It is also boring.
This HaBO comes from M, who is looking for this older title: I probably read this in the early 90s. The main characters have known each other since childhood. The heroine’s widowed (I think) mother became the tutor for the young master of the house ( I think his name was Miles). Heroine was allowed to study alongside him. Miles tormented the heroine by doing things like dipping braids in ink etc. There is a … Continue reading HaBO: There’s Treasure in Them Gargoyle Pins→
I wanted to review Deep Water in part because I wanted to warn readers about some of the content. This book contains references to human trafficking, a sexual assault on the page, and a dog in jeopardy. So I know based on Hollywood movies (The Island), other novels (like The Reckless Girls) and at least two Datelines that if you say goodbye to your 9-5 and find yourself sailing to a remote tropical paradise inhabited … Continue reading Deep Water by Emma Bamford→
RECOMMENDED: Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik is $2.99! This is a sci-fi romance and I absolutely loved it. Be warned that it does have a bit of a pushy alpha hero. You can read my A- here:
I am so incredibly happy that this book is in the world, especially after feeling like I’ve exhausted all my sci-fi romance options. Polaris Rising is exciting. It’s funny. It’s fan-fucking-tastic. My quibbles are minor in comparison to the joyful Good Book Noises I made while reading this.
Hey hey! It’s Cover Snark day! Elyse: Sunshine dog redux Amanda: The dog startled me Tara: I really want the dog to be a scoundrel too. Sarah: Can I steal the dog? The humans I can take or leave. Elyse: I can personally attest to the fact that brachycephalic dogs produce so much gas and those people are making out in a room full of dog farts Sneezy: Hahahahaa I was just lolling at how … Continue reading Cover Snark: Have They Started Repeating?→
The Maid by Nita Prose is $3.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet! I’ve seen some comments and criticisms about the heroine being possibly neurodivergent and that on-page portrayal. Have you read this one?

This book is really two mysteries in one, and when they collide it’s a wonderful “ah-ha” moment. I wish I could say more than that, but I don’t want to ruin a single thing for another reader.
