  • Fated Blades

    Fated Blades by Ilona Andrews

Fated Blades by Ilona Andrews is $1.99 at Amazon! Lots of Andrews fans here! This is book three in the Kinsmen series, but can be read out of order.

An uneasy alliance between warring families gets heated in this otherworldly novella from bestselling author Ilona Andrews.

At first glance, the planet Rada seems like a lush paradise. But the ruling families, all boasting genetically enhanced abilities, are in constant competition for power―and none more so than the Adlers and the Baenas. For generations, the powerful families have pushed and pulled each other in a dance for dominance.

Until a catastrophic betrayal from within changes everything.

Now, deadly, disciplined, and solitary leaders Ramona Adler and Matias Baena must put aside their enmity and work together in secret to prevent sinister forces from exploiting universe-altering technology. Expecting to suffer through their uneasy alliance, Ramona and Matias instead discover that they understand each other as no one in their families can―and that their combined skills may eclipse the risks of their forbidden alliance.

As the two warriors risk their lives to save their families, they must decide whether to resist or embrace the passion simmering between them. For now, the dance between their families continues―but just one misstep could spell the end of them both.

  • No Choice But Seduction

No Choice But Seduction by Johanna Lindsey

No Choice But Seduction by Johanna Lindsey is $1.99! This is book nine in the Mallory-Anderson Families series. It’s had a cover update since its release in 2008. l think the old cover feels a lot dreamier.

Fans of #1 New York Times bestselling author Johanna Lindsey will be delighted by this ninth novel about the aristocratic Malory family—a passionate, high-spirited Regency romance filled with adventure, family secrets, and a high-stakes kidnapping.

After her mother dies, vivacious Katey Tyler flees her dull Connecticut town for Europe, hoping to finally meet her British relatives and experience a life-changing adventure. She has no idea just how far her travels will take her—especially when she stumbles upon a high-stakes kidnapping.

When Sir Anthony Malory’s young daughter is kidnapped from London’s Hyde Park, the ransom note is accidentally sent to the home of his brother, James, and is intercepted by houseguest Boyd Anderson. The notoriously hot-headed American sea captain joins Anthony in the search for the missing girl, hardly expecting that his pursuit will have him cross paths with the exquisite Katey Tyler, recently a passenger on his ship.

Little does Katey realize that in having caught the attention of Boyd Anderson—and in meeting up with the Malorys—she’s about to experience more excitement than the typical young lady encounters on a grand tour. A multitude of surprises await her, from the startling truth about her mother’s early life to the lengths a man will go to win the affections of a lady who has every reason to despise him—but who can’t resist the seductive, impassioned love he has to offer her.

With “witty writing, charmingly unique characters, and a sexy love story” (Booklist), No Choice But Seduction will sweep you away on an irresistible romantic adventure that is as bold and charming as the heroine at its heart.

  • Homemaker

    Homemaker by Ruthie Knox

RECOMMENDED: Homemaker by Ruthie Knox and Annie Mare is $2.49 at Amazon! Sarah reviewed this and gave it a B+:

Homemaker is extremely, vibrantly feminist, though Prairie is not so much angry all the time (she is sometimes) as she is fed up and unafraid to point out all of the ways that women’s perceptions, labor, and accomplishments are devalued – unless that women’s work makes the man in her life look good to other people.

When a former friend and devoted mother vanishes, a confident homemaker turned amateur sleuth follows an unexpected trail of scandals and secrets to find her.

Prairie Nightingale is both the midlife mother of two teenage girls and a canny entrepreneur who has turned homemaking into a salaried profession. She’s also fascinated with the gritty details of other people’s lives. So when seemingly perfect Lisa Radcliffe, a member of her former mom-friends circle, suddenly disappears, it’s in Prairie’s nature to find out why.

Given her innate talent for vital pattern recognition, Prairie is out to catch a few clues by taking a long, hard look at everyone in Lisa’s life—and uncovering their secrets. Including Lisa’s. Prairie’s dogged curiosity is especially irritating to FBI agent Foster Rosemare, the first interesting man Prairie has met since her divorce. His square jaw and sharp suits don’t hurt.

But even as the investigation begins to wreak havoc on Prairie’s carefully tended homelife, she’s resolved to use her multivalent homemaking skills to solve the mystery of a missing mom—and along the way discover the thrill of her new sleuthing ambitions.

  • The Four Tendencies

The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin

RECOMMENDED: The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin is $1.99! Sarah previously gave it B+:

If you’re curious about your own habit formation, what motivates you, and how to work with your own tendency, you should definitely take the quiz and check out the book. It would likely be an insightful read.

In this groundbreaking analysis of personality type, bestselling author of Better Than Before and The Happiness Project Gretchen Rubin reveals the one simple question that will transform what you do at home, at work, and in life.

During her multibook investigation into understanding human nature, Gretchen Rubin realized that by asking the seemingly dry question “How do I respond to expectations?” we gain explosive self-knowledge. She discovered that based on their answer, people fit into Four Tendencies: Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels. Our Tendency shapes every aspect of our behavior, so using this framework allows us to make better decisions, meet deadlines, suffer less stress, and engage more effectively.

More than 600,000 people have taken her online quiz, and managers, doctors, teachers, spouses, and parents already use the framework to help people make significant, lasting change.

The Four Tendencies hold practical answers if you’ve ever thought…
    ·         People can rely on me, but I can’t rely on myself.
    ·         How can I help someone to follow good advice?
    ·         People say I ask too many questions.
    ·         How do I work with someone who refuses to do what I ask—or who keeps telling me what to do?

With sharp insight, compelling research, and hilarious examples, The Four Tendencies will help you get happier, healthier, more productive, and more creative. It’s far easier to succeed when you know what works for you.

Fated Blades is not top-tier Ilona Andrews, but it is still pretty good, especially for $1.99.

  2. DiscoDollyDeb says:

It doesn’t matter how many times I see the cover of FATED BLADES, I always have a moment of shock thinking the man is about to punch the woman in the face!
