Friday Videos Love Trogdor

An image of a VHS cassette with a label that reads FRIDAY VIDEOS Smart Bitches Ep. 21 against a pink crosshatch backgroundIt’s Friday!

It’s a Friday Video!

A most excellent development.

Continuing our tour through vintage internet…remember Adobe Flash?

Flash animations used to be everywhere, from cartoons to games – so many games. Now Flash has been replaced by other technologies for the most part.

What’s hilarious to me is how quickly editing tools have grown easier to use and more nimble. What used to be a mammoth, resource-hogging program is now a 2mb app on my phone.

I remember sitting in my cubicle waiting for the new uploads to Homestar Runner, which started in 2000. (Older than us! And still going!)

I’m not sure why Trogdor the Burninator became a meme before memes were memes, but woo, did it ever. I remember right after it came out, a friend of mine got a birthday cake for a co-worker and had the baker write, “Happy Burninator, Trogdor” on the top. It was like one of the earliest “inside jokes” of the internet. We still quote this and other HSR videos to each other today.

If you’ve never seen this, enjoy. It’s barmy. Strong Bad was one of the lead characters in the Homestar Runner-verse, and the Strong Bad Emails series (the only place I will use the word “emails” as it’s one of those words that annoys me because mail is already plural) was one of the most popular. In Strong Bad Email #58, released in January 2003, we meet an internet legend.

CONSUMMATE Vs! Very important.

Did you watch this series?

Friday Videos hope your weekend is a more different S, and an entire win!
