I’m looking for a book (maybe series) that I read in high school (probably around 2004-7). It was popular amongst the girls and we were all excited to read it and pass it around (mainly based on the spicy scenes).
It followed a girl who met a bad boy type and fell head over heels. I seem to remember that he was sexually experienced and was showing her the ropes. There were quite a few explicit scenes I’m sure, although I also seem to remember getting it out from the school library so maybe they weren’t that explicit (also could be wrong about the library).
I remember the main character had a girls summer holiday and her and her friends were sunbathing on the roof. I also remember a male best friend of the main character who was jealous of the new “bad boy” and there was a scene where they were at a party but the MC and bad boy were all over each other (maybe against a wall). This was referenced then later between the MC and friend where he was saying she was so engrossed that night she didn’t notice whatever was going on at the party.
It’s driving me crazy that I can’t remember it!

Can’t help with the HABO, but the description reminds me of the girls in my dorm who would sunbathe nude on the roof of the dorm, slathered with baby oil with strips of cotton protecting their bikini lines from sunburn. For some reason, the local Air Force flight paths shifted to over the campus during prime tanning hours.
It wasn’t by any chance the Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty, was it? The forst book was Sloppy Firsts and though I did read it, it came out in 2001, and I was working in a hs library at the time. I enjoyed it, though I wasn’t the target audience, and I remember no details. Seems like Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2001) and Angus, Thongs, and Full Fronta Snogging (1999) also came out around that era. Sarah Dessen was pretty popular at the time as well.
It’s been well about fifteen years since I read the Jessica Darling books, but I’m pretty sure she was never the type to sunbathe naked (nor did she have a lot of friends I don’t think). And it doesn’t sound like the Sisterhood books either as the point is they’re rarely together ( just mail the jeans to each other), although it’s been a while since I read those too. I never read any Sarah Dessen though so possibly still a contender.
I agree that it is not Jessical Darling, Sisterhood or any Sarah Dessen. Sarah Dessen is not explicit.
