The Killing Moon
The Killing Moon by N.K. Jemisin is $2.99! This is an earlier title of Jemisin’s and the first book in the Dreamblood series. How do you think it compares to the rest of her titles?
The city burned beneath the Dreaming Moon.
In the ancient city-state of Gujaareh, peace is the only law. Upon its rooftops and amongst the shadows of its cobbled streets wait the Gatherers – the keepers of this peace. Priests of the dream-goddess, their duty is to harvest the magic of the sleeping mind and use it to heal, soothe . . . and kill those judged corrupt.
But when a conspiracy blooms within Gujaareh’s great temple, Ehiru – the most famous of the city’s Gatherers – must question everything he knows. Someone, or something, is murdering dreamers in the goddess’ name, stalking its prey both in Gujaareh’s alleys and the realm of dreams. Ehiru must now protect the woman he was sent to kill – or watch the city be devoured by war and forbidden magic.

Never Seduce a Scot
Never Seduce a Scot by Maya Banks is $1.99! This is a historical romance with (you guessed it) a Scottish hero! The heroine is deaf and in an arranged marriage. There was a great discussion last time this was on sale about the nature of the heroine’s disability, as the description is slightly misleading.
Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her “touched.” Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn’t speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty—unprepared for the delights to come. Graeme is a rugged warrior with a voice so deep and powerful that his new bride can hear it, and hands and kisses so tender and skilled that he stirs her deepest passions.
Graeme is intrigued by the mysterious Eveline, whose silent lips are ripe with temptation and whose bright, intelligent eyes can see into his soul. As intimacy deepens, he learns her secret. But when clan rivalries and dark deeds threaten the wife he has only begun to cherish, the Scottish warrior will move heaven and earth to save the woman who has awakened his heart to the beautiful song of a rare and magical love.

Chef Sugarlips
Chef Sugarlips by Tawna Fenske is 99c! I’ve read other books in this series and they’re fun, quick reads. This one in particular was recommended in my romance book club and I’m always a sucker for foodie elements in my romance. And yes, the model’s head does look detached.
Sean Bracelyn can whip up a saffron-laced lobster risotto in his sleep, but relationships? That’s one recipe he hasn’t nailed. Not that he has time, between launching a new restaurant and building a luxury resort with his awkwardly-blended family. But when his dream girl nearly knocks him unconscious with a dead turkey, it’s all Sean can do to keep his eyes on the gazpacho and off Amber King’s perfect curves.
Amber’s done with guys propping her on a pedestal. Transforming her family’s reindeer ranch into a country chic wedding venue is consuming enough, and the last thing she needs is an extra serving of love drama. So what is it about the stupid-sexy chef that gets her desires bubbling like a pot of hot spaghetti?
Keeping their distance is tough enough before Sean and Amber get tossed together by wacky weddings, lingerie mishaps, and a surly three-legged cat. When Sean’s mom shows up to dish out huge helpings of family drama, a big secret threatens to spread faster than a kitchen fire.
Can Sean and Amber find the right blend of sugar and spice, or will love fall flat as a burnt soufflé?

The Lord of Stariel
RECOMMENDED: The Lord of Stariel by AJ Lancaster is FREE! Ellen gave it an A:
I adored this book and I NEEDED to tell the Bitchery about it. This is a whimsical, fun, sweet fantasy mystery with wonderful characters and a healthy dollop of romance.
The Lord of Stariel is dead. Long live the Lord of Stariel. Whoever that is.
Everyone knows who the magical estate will choose for its next ruler. Or do they?
Will it be the lord’s eldest son, who he despised?
His favourite nephew, with the strongest magical land-sense?
His scandalous daughter, who ran away from home years ago to study illusion?
Hetta knows it won’t be her, and she’s glad of it. Returning home for her father’s funeral, all Hetta has to do is survive the family drama and avoid entanglements with irritatingly attractive local men until the Choosing. Then she can leave.
But whoever Stariel chooses will have bigger problems than eccentric relatives to deal with.
Winged, beautifully deadly problems.
For the first time in centuries, the fae are returning to the Mortal Realm, and only the Lord of Stariel can keep the estate safe.
In theory.
The Lord of Stariel is the first book in the Stariel quartet.

Not only is The Lord of Stariel free, but the whole series is on Kindle Unlimited! I devoured them all and then purchased physical copies because I loved them so much I wanted to support the author – and I have extremely limited space for physical books. Can’t recommend them enough!
Tessa Bailey’s Window Shopping is $1.99.
The box set of Gina Azzi’s first four Boston Hawks hockey series is $.99
Chef Sugarlips features a surprisingly heavy topic, though it takes quite a while to reach it. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the content includes addiction. Regardless, it’s a lot of fun.
I’m another one in the camp of I loved Stariel so much I bought the physical copies of the whole series.
I loved the Dreamblood Duology! I feel like each series she does is so distinct as far as the world and the ambient feeling, but they all share the way her intelligence and skill shine forth in them. It’s been quite a few years, i may have to re-read those in 2023 sometime!
Another vote for the Stariel series. Loved it, and the standalone 5th book A Rake of His Own, that came out this October. If you’ve ever enjoyed a fantasy book, chances are you’ll love it too!
