  • If You Desire

If You Desire by Kresley Cole

If You Desire by Kresley Cole is $1.99! This is the second book in the MacCarrick Brothers trilogy about a group of Scottish brothers who think they’re cursed. This isn’t a paranormal romance like Cole’s current books.

How much temptation can a Highlander resist? Fierce Scottish brothers shadowed by a dark curse face steamy new adventures in the second book in Kresley Cole’s thrilling new trilogy.

    He tried to run….

In his youth, Hugh MacCarrick foolishly fell in love with a beautiful English lass who delighted in teasing him with her flirtatious ways. Yet he knew he could never marry her because he was shadowed by an accursed family legacy. To avoid temptation, Hugh left home, ultimately becoming an assassin.

    She tried to forget him….
Jane Weyland was devastated when the Highlander she believed would marry her abandoned her instead. Years later, when Hugh MacCarrick is summoned to protect her from her father’s enemies, her heartache has turned to fury — but her desire for him has not waned.

    Will passion overwhelm them?

In hiding, Jane torments Hugh with seductive play. He struggles to resist her because of deadly secrets that could endanger her further. But Hugh is no longer a gentle young man — and toying with the fever-pitched desires of a hardened warrior will either get Jane burned…or enflame a love that never died.

  • Highland Crown

    Highland Crown by May McGoldrick

Highland Crown by May McGoldrick is $1.99! Elyse read this one and gave it a C, but notes:

If you like historicals with a lot of fast-paced action and don’t mind insta-love, then this book may work nicely for you.

    Inverness, 1820
Perched on the North Sea, this port town―by turns legendary and mythological―is a place where Highland rebels and English authorities clash in a mortal struggle for survival and dominance. Among the fray is a lovely young widow who possesses rare and special gifts.

    WANTED: Isabella Drummond
A true beauty and trained physician, Isabella has inspired longing and mystery―and fury―in a great many men. Hunted by both the British government and Scottish rebels, she came to the Highlands in search of survival. But a dying ship’s captain will steer her fate into even stormier waters. . .and her heart into flames.

    FOUND: Cinaed Mackintosh
Cast from his home as a child, Cinaed is a fierce soul whose allegiance is only to himself. . .until Isabella saved his life―and added more risk to her own. Now, the only way Cinaed can keep her safe to seek refuge at Dalmigavie Castle, the Mackintosh family seat. But when the scandalous truth of his past comes out, any chance of Cinaed having a bright future with Isabella is thrown into complete darkness. What will these two ill-fated lovers have to sacrifice to be together…for eternity?

  • The Beast of Beswick

The Beast of Beswick by Amalie Howard

The Beast of Beswick by Amalie Howard is 99c! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals, which include a lot of romance. Catherine reviewed this one and gave it a B-:

I enjoyed the complexity of the characters, and I was especially intrigued by Isobel, whose inner life is so opaque to her sister, and yet clearly quite well-developed. There’s a lot of heat and sensuality in the book, and some lovely moments of humour. These are all really big positives.

The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare meets Taming of the Shrew in the start to a new Regency series from award-winning author Amalie Howard.

Lord Nathaniel Harte, the disagreeable Duke of Beswick, spends his days smashing porcelain, antagonizing his servants, and snarling at anyone who gets too close. With a ruined face like his, it’s hard to like much about the world. Especially smart-mouthed harpies―with lips better suited to kissing than speaking―who brave his castle with indecent proposals.

But Lady Astrid Everleigh will stop at nothing to see her younger sister safe from a notorious scoundrel, even if it means offering herself up on a silver platter to the forbidding Beast of Beswick himself. And by offer, she means what no highborn lady of sound and sensible mind would ever dream of―a tender of marriage with her as his bride.

  • Come Away with Me

Come Away with Me by Karma Brown

Come Away with Me by Karma Brown is $2.99! This is a women’s fiction novel and I remember hearing Brown speak at a romance event (maybe at RT?). She said this book was inspired by her favorite read: On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves. I can see the parallels.

An unexpected journey leads one woman to discover that life after loss is possible, if only you can find the courage to let go…

One minute, Tegan Lawson has everything she could hope for: an adoring husband, Gabe, and a baby on the way. The next, a patch of black ice causes a devastating accident that will change her life in ways she never could have imagined.

Tegan is consumed by grief—not to mention her anger toward Gabe, who was driving on the night of the crash. But just when she thinks she’s hit rock bottom, Gabe reminds her of their Jar of Spontaneity, a collection of their dream destinations and experiences, and so begins an adventure of a lifetime.

From the bustling markets of Thailand to the flavors of Italy to the ocean waves in Hawaii, Tegan and Gabe embark on a journey to escape the tragedy and search for forgiveness. But they soon learn that grief follows you no matter how far away you run, and that acceptance comes when you least expect it. Heartbreaking, hopeful and utterly transporting,Come Away with Me is an unforgettable debut and a luminous celebration of the strength of the human spirit.

  1. DiscoDollyDeb says:

Charlotte Duckworth’s UNFOLLOW ME, a psychological suspense novel about people who become overly invested in the life of a “Mummy Blogger/Influencer” they follow on social media, is a $1.99 KDD today. I read this last year and thought it was quite well done, especially about the difference between real life and the curated version that appears on-line. I recommend it, with the warning that more than one child is in peril at different times in the book.

  2. Maureen says:

I very much recommend The Beast of Beswick. Loved the main characters and the way their relationship developed. I’ve read it more than once, which says a lot with my TBR pile spiraling out of control!

  3. Star says:

To avoid temptation, Hugh left home, ultimately becoming an assassin.

I don’t understand why I think this sentence is hilarious, but… I think this sentence is hilarious.

  4. Darlynne says:

@Star: It is. Talk about a swerve. To avoid that last awkward conversation, Hugh left school, ultimately becoming an armpit sniffer for a deodorant manufacturer. I mean, where do you go from there?
