  • The Best Man Plan

The Best Man Plan by Jaci Burton

The Best Man Plan by Jaci Burton is $1.99! This is book one of the Boots & Bouquets series,  and is a one night stand/friends to lovers contemporary romance (sniff, sniff…is that catnip?). Book two, The Engagement Arrangement, comes out on June 29, so if you like this one, the next one will release very soon. The Best Man Plan has a 3.69 average on Goodreads – did you read this one?

Three days before Erin Bellini’s wedding, her fiancé breaks up with her–in an email! Hurt and embarrassed, she decides to have a fling with veterinarian Jason Callum, who’s both the best man and the hottest guy she knows. But Jason wants a lot more than just a one-night stand with the woman he’s cared about for years. So he’s taking things slow. And hot. And showing Erin what real love can look like.

Suddenly Erin finds herself spending a lot more time with Jason than she intended. Feelings she never planned on having again are wrapping around her heart, refusing to let go. Erin isn’t sure she can trust her instincts, though. After all, she made a terrible choice with her ex-fiancé. But Jason intends to convince her that he’s the best man for her, and that what they have together is a real love that will last forever.

  • Vicious Cycle

    Vicious Cycle by Katie Ashley

Vicious Cycle by Katie Ashley is $1.99! THis is book one of the Vicious Cycle series, and is a motorcycle club romance (though I confess, when I see “MC” romance, I think “emcee” romance, and then there’s a lot of shirtless men wearing leather jackets while holding microphones, and my imagination is a weird place, is what I’m saying).

This book has a 3.8-star average on Goodreads, and features a teacher and a biker who learns he has a five year old daughter. So not a secret baby so much as a surprise Kindergartener. Have you read this book?

Deacon Malloy’s life is dedicated to the Hells Raiders motorcycle club. Tough, hard, and fast with his fists, he serves the group as sergeant at arms. But his devil-may-care approach to life is thrown for a loop when the five-year-old daughter he never knew existed lands on the club steps.

Alexandra Evans is devoted to all her students—but there’s always been something about Willow Malloy that tugs at her heart. There’s an aura of sadness about her, a girl in need of all the love Alexandra can give. When Willow stops coming to school, Alexandra’s search leads to a clubhouse full of bikers…and a father hell-bent on keeping his daughter always within sight.

The moment Deacon sees Alexandra, he has to have her in his bed—and he’s never met a woman yet who couldn’t be persuaded. No matter how attracted she is to Deacon, Alexandra refuses to be just another conquest. But it’s Deacon himself who could be seduced—into a brighter future for himself, his daughter, and the woman he’s falling for against all odds.

  • Barefoot Season

    Barefoot Season by Susan Mallery

Barefoot Season by Susan Mallery is $3.99! This is the start of the Blackberry Island series, and has a 3.9-star average on Goodreads. Folks there say it’s indeed a good beach read,  as the cover would indicate, with characters who find romance and repair childhood friendships. Have you read this one?

Michelle Sanderson may appear to be a strong, independent woman, but on the inside, she’s still the wounded girl who fled home years ago. A young army vet, Michelle returns to the quaint Blackberry Island Inn to claim her inheritance and recover from the perils of war. Instead, she finds the owner’s suite occupied by the last person she wants to see.

Carly Williams and Michelle were once inseparable, until a shocking betrayal destroyed their friendship. And now Carly is implicated in the financial disaster lurking behind the inn’s cheerful veneer.

Single mother Carly has weathered rumors, lies and secrets for a lifetime, and is finally starting to move forward with love and life. But if the Blackberry Island Inn goes under, Carly and her daughter will go with it.

To save their livelihoods, Carly and Michelle will undertake a turbulent truce. It’ll take more than a successful season to move beyond their devastating past, but with a little luck and a beautiful summer, they may just rediscover the friendship of a lifetime.

  • Sisters by Choice

Sisters by Choice by Susan Mallery

Sisters By Choice by Susan Mallery is $2.99! This is book four of the Blackberry Island series (book one is above!). This one also has a 3.9-star average, and after reading the first line of the back cover copy (below) I can’t think of anything else to say. Have you read this one?

Cousins by chance, sisters by choice…

After her cat toy empire goes up in flames, Sophie Lane returns to Blackberry Island, determined to rebuild. Until small-town life reveals a big problem: she can’t grow unless she learns to let go. If Sophie relaxes her grip even a little, she might lose everything. Or she might finally be free to reach for the happiness and love that have eluded her for so long.

Kristine has become defined by her relationship to others. She’s a wife, a mom. As much as she adores her husband and sons, she wants something for herself—a sweet little bakery just off the waterfront. She knew changing the rules wouldn’t be easy, but she never imagined she might have to choose between her marriage and her dreams.

Like the mainland on the horizon, Heather’s goals seem beyond her grasp. Every time she manages to save for college, her mother has another crisis. Can she break free, or will she be trapped in this tiny life forever?

  1. Ren Benton/Lena Brassard says:

BLACKTOP WASTELAND by S. A. Cosby is $2.99. “Ocean’s Eleven meets Drive, with a Southern noir twist.”

  2. Ruth L says:

I did like the earlier books in the Blackberry Island series — particularly “Three Sisters” (which is not about sisters) — but I didn’t like “Sisters by Choice” — I just wanted to slap the main character, and I didn’t get the whole “sisters by choice” concept because the women were already cousins — is being a cousin not good enough? Note that none of the Blackberry Island novels are romances — more “women’s fiction.”

  3. Ms. M says:

I want to know more about the downfall of the “cat toy empire” described in the Mallory book. What scandals and corporate shenanigans doomed the manufacturing of those cat toys? Was the catnip too addictive? Does the heroine have to get back to her cat-loving roots to find the joy of cat toys again?

  4. Dee says:

@Ms.M you read my mind. I too am curious about the cat toy empire implosion. Was she spending too much time playing with the cats/toys and not keeping an eye on the bottom line?

  5. Ren Benton/Lena Brassard says:

@ Ms. M and Dee: Cat toy drama sounds like a great cozy mystery backdrop, but here, “goes up in flames” just means “literally on fire.”

  6. Dee says:

@Ren the sound you hear is cats everywhere crying

  7. SAO says:

This is off-topic, but did you know Stacy Abrams wrote romance novels under the name of Selena Montgommery? It doesn’t look like you’ve reviewed any. You should. She had one published at about the same time she published a tome on tax policy! A woman after my own heart!

  8. MsCellanie says:

“Vicious Cycle” is entirely not my type of book. But that is a really, really, really good title.

  9. SB Sarah says:

@MsCellanie – I entirely agree with you there. I thought the same thing about that title!
