  • The Wedding Party

The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory

The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory is $2.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals, which also feature some other great titles. I don’t think I’ve seen this one on sale before. Do you have a favorite Guillory?

The new exhilarating romance from The New York Times bestselling author of The Proposal!

Maddie and Theo have two things in common:

    1. Alexa is their best friend
    2. They hate each other

After an “oops, we made a mistake” night together, neither one can stop thinking about the other. With Alexa’s wedding rapidly approaching, Maddie and Theo both share bridal party responsibilities that require more interaction with each other than they’re comfortable with. Underneath the sharp barbs they toss at each other is a simmering attraction that won’t fade. It builds until they find themselves sneaking off together to release some tension when Alexa isn’t looking, agreeing they would end it once the wedding is over. When it’s suddenly pushed up and they only have a few months left of secret rendezvouses, they find themselves regretting that the end is near. Two people this different can’t possibly have a connection other than the purely physical, right?

But as with any engagement with a nemesis, there are unspoken rules that must be abided by. First and foremost, don’t fall in love.

  • The Door in the Hedge

The Door in the Hedge by Robin McKinley

The Door in the Hedge by Robin McKinley is $1.99 at Amazon! This is a collection of fairy tale/fantasy short stories. I’ve been finding anthologies especially appealing right now because I can read a story or two when my brain is low on bandwidth.

From ensorcelled princesses to a frog that speaks, an enchanting collection of fairy tales from the Newbery Medal–winning author.

The last mortal kingdom before the unmeasured sweep of Faerieland begins has at best held an uneasy truce with its unpredictable neighbor. There is nothing to show a boundary, at least on the mortal side of it; and if any ordinary human creature ever saw a faerie—or at any rate recognized one—it was never mentioned; but the existence of the boundary and of faeries beyond it is never in doubt either.

So begins “The Stolen Princess,” the first story of this collection, about the meeting between the human princess Linadel and the faerie prince Donathor. “The Princess and the Frog” concerns Rana and her unexpected alliance with a small, green, flipper-footed denizen of a pond in the palace gardens. “The Hunting of the Hind” tells of a princess who has bewitched her beloved brother, hoping to beg some magic of cure, for her brother is dying, and the last tale is a retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses in which an old soldier discovers, with a little help from a lavender-eyed witch, the surprising truth about where the princesses dance their shoes to tatters every night.

  • Once a Soldier

Once a Soldier by Mary Jo Putney

Once a Soldier by Mary Jo Putney is $1.99 at Amazon! Readers loved the strong heroine and how she paired well with the hero, but others found a bulk of the book to be dull and lacking any momentum. This is the first book in the Rogues Redeemed series and the second book is also on sale. Have you read this one?

As heir to a title and great wealth, Will Masterson should have stayed home and tended his responsibilities. Instead he went to war. Now, after perilous years fighting the French, he intends his current mission to be his last. But all his plans are forgotten when he arrives in the small mountain stronghold of San Gabriel and meets her.

Knowing herself to be too tall, strong, and unconventional to appeal to a man, Athena Markham has always gloried in her independence. But for the first time in her life, she finds a man who might be her match.

Two of a kind, too brave for their own good, Athena and Will vow to do whatever it takes to vanquish San Gabriel’s enemies. For neither will back down from death, and only together can they find happiness and a love deeper than any they’d dared imagine…

  • To Tempt a Bride

To Tempt a Bride by Edith Layton

To Tempt a Bride by Edith Layton is $2.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! This historical romance is part of the C Series and features a military hero who has it bad for the heroine. Readers loved the tomboy heroine, but wanted more chemistry between the leads.

From the moment she first saw tall, dashing Eric Ford, Camille’s heart was lost. In her most cherished fantasy she is standing by his side, exchanging sacred wedding vows with her beloved. But Eric seems content to be no more than her unofficial protector, watching over the younger sister of his dear friend—and, despite her every attempt to open his eyes, it appears Camille’s dream of wedded bliss might never come true.

Eric knows a spirited and passionate beauty like Camille deserves much better than him, an ex-military man who has no patience for the games of the ton. Still, he aches each time a potential suitor approaches her, or when he sees her dancing in another man’s arms. Eric knows he will never be complete until Camille is his. With each lingering glance and caressing touch he must tempt the lady to be his bride. But when danger and betrayal threaten, will it destroy a secret love…or bind two hearts for all eternity?

  1. Lynn S says:

There are also quite a few literary novels on sale today including Rodham by Curtis Sittenfeld and Washington Black by Esi Edugyan.

  2. Laurie says:

The Wedding Date was my very favorite of that series. Jasmine Guillory did a brilliant job crafting Maddie & Theo’s story.

  3. Lisa F says:

Guillory’s Wedding Date is fabulous (My favorite from that series is still The Proposal but this is up there for me as well).

Putney’s series has been all over the map but the first one is probably the best.
