  • Ancillary Justice

    Ancillary Justice by Anne Leckie

Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie is $3.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals! I know Carrie really loves this book (and the entire series, I believe). It’s also a Hugo Award winner! Readers really loved the scifi world building, though some admitted wanting more action in the first book of the Imperial Radch series.

Winner of the Hugo, Nebula, British Science Fiction, Locus and Arthur C. Clarke Awards.

On a remote, icy planet, the soldier known as Breq is drawing closer to completing her quest.
Once, she was the Justice of Toren – a colossal starship with an artificial intelligence linking thousands of soldiers in the service of the Radch, the empire that conquered the galaxy.
Now, an act of treachery has ripped it all away, leaving her with one fragile human body, unanswered questions, and a burning desire for vengeance.

  • Not the Girl You Marry

Not the Girl You Marry by Andie Christopher

Not the Girl You Marry by Andie J. Christopher is $2.99! This a romantic comedy inspired by How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Readers seemed to love the hero, but weren’t exactly sold on the heroine. Have you read this one?

How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days gets a millennial makeover in this romantic comedy by USA Today bestselling author Andie J. Christopher.

Jack Nolan is a gentleman, a journalist, and unlucky in love. His viral success has pigeon-holed him as the how-to guy for a buzzy, internet media company instead of covering hard-hitting politics. Fed up with his fluffy articles and the app-based dating scene as well, he strikes a deal with his boss to write a final piece de resistance: How to Lose a Girl. Easier said than done when the girl he meets is Hannah Mayfield, and he’s not sure he wants her to dump him.

Hannah is an extremely successful event planner who’s focused on climbing the career ladder. Her firm is one of the most prestigious in the city, and she’s determined to secure her next promotion. But Hannah has a bit of an image problem. She needs to show her boss that she has range, including planning dreaded, romantic weddings. Enter Jack. He’s the perfect man to date for a couple weeks to prove to her boss that she’s not scared of feelings.

Before Jack and Hannah know it, their fake relationship starts to feel all too real—and neither of them can stand to lose each other.

  • The Rogue’s Conquest

The Rogue’s Conquest by Lily Maxton

The Rogue’s Conquest by Lily Maxton is 99c! This historical romance has so much catnip: a heroine who disguises herself as a man and loves science, a prizefighter hero, and an opposites attract romance. Hello! However, be warned that the romance is on the shorter side at a little under 250 pages.

Wallflower Eleanor Townsend is not like most women. She has no interest in marriage, the ton, or fashion. Instead, her heart lies with science. And when the opportunity to present a paper arises, she takes it, even though it means dressing as a man. But her disguise doesn’t quite work. Someone notices—and the brute intends to blackmail her!

Former prizefighter James MacGregor wants to be a gentleman, like the men he trains in his boxing saloon. His first step is gaining a beautiful, wealthy wife. Eleanor Townsend is not that woman, but a chance encounter gives him the leverage he needs. She’ll gain him entry to high society and help him with his atrocious manners, and in return, he won’t reveal her secret. It’s the perfect arrangement. At least until the sparks between them become more than just their personalities clashing. But there’s too much at stake for James to give in to his growing attraction.

  • The Trouble with Mistletoe

The Trouble with Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis

RECOMMENDED: The Trouble with Mistletoe by Jill Shalvis is $1.99! Many of her books are on sale right now and I certainly won’t judge you for reading a holiday romance in March. Elyse gave this one an A:

Jill Shalvis is one of those authors that I turn to for comfort reads; her books are always sexy, funny and emotionally satisfying. She writes pure Elyse-nip. That said, The Trouble with Mistletoe might be my favorite book of hers ever. It made me horny and it made me cry.

  1. Jenny says:

Jasmine Guillory’s “The Proposal” is US$2.99 at Amazon.

  2. Mallory says:

Loved, loved loved “Ancillary Justice” and the whole trilogy. This book takes some attention to read but I loved it. It is NOT traditional military sci-fi with lots of shooting but a rather more measured story. There isn’t anything I can say that would do justice to this story so all I can say is buy it and read it.

  3. Michelle says:

Ancillary Justice is so good. Soooooo good.

  4. Carole says:

Jill Shalvis’ Heartbreaker Bay is one of my favourite romance series. Currently re-reading the series as I am in self-quarantine while my husband recuperates from COVID-19. Agree reading a story focused around the Holidays is great any time of year if you need to escape somewhere romantic with a happy ending…

  5. Erica says:

If you haven’t read the Imperial Radch series and don’t believe the first few comments recommending it for some reason, PLEASE GO PURCHASE ANCILLARY JUSTICE IMMEDIATELY AND THEN READ IT. Yes, I am shouting at you over the internet. It’s that good. The series is among my absolute favorite works of fiction (and Ancillary Justice is, on its own merits, quite good).

In fact, I might go for a millionth re-read, because right now’s a pretty good time for a story affirming love and personhood (and also fish sauce).

  6. mochabean says:

I’m commenting to share the Ancillary Justice love since it is just a fantastic book (and series).

  7. Kareni says:

@Carole, best wishes for your husband’s recuperation and for good health for you both (and us all).

  8. Susannah says:

Another vote for Ancillary Justice — it is excellent.

  9. Ms. M says:

The sale is over now, but I wanted to weigh in on the Imperial Radch as well. A number of people in my book club have read Ancillary Justice and then stopped. OMG DO NOT STOP Ancillary Sword and Ancillary Mercy are SO MUCH MORE LOVABLE AND HEARTWARMING AND…. you get my drift?

  10. HeatherT says:

In this time of stress, it is a good time to re-read the Ancillary series, which are quite possibly my favorite books of all time. Many people report (and I agree) that when Ancillary Justice starts it is a bit confusing — the reader is dumped into a very different world without explanation or introduction. However, part of the pleasure is realizing what is going on. “My heart is a fish”

  11. Msb says:

Ancillary Justice blew my socks off. I think they’re still in orbit.

  12. arielibra says:

Dear @Erica, please write a book called Love and Personhood and Fish Sauce. Any kind of book, really, just stick with the title. 🙂
