  • My Best Friend’s Exorcism

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

RECOMMENDEDMy Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix is $1.99! This is a great book for Halloween. Carrie reviewed this and gave it a B+:

This particular horror story is a love letter to the 1980s and to the power of friendship between women. The ending is very awesome. But also very gross, so be prepared.

Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fifth grade, when they bonded over a shared love of E.T., roller-skating parties, and scratch-and-sniff stickers. But when they arrive at high school, things change. Gretchen begins to act . . . different. And as the strange coincidences and bizarre behavior start to pile up, Abby realizes there’s only one possible explanation: Gretchen, her favorite person in the world, has a demon living inside her. And Abby is not about to let anyone or anything come between her and her best friend. With help from some unlikely allies, Abby embarks on a quest to save Gretchen. But is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?

  • Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard

Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard by Vanessa Kelly

Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard by Vanessa Kelly is 99c! This is the first book in the Renegade Royals series. Some readers struggled with the instantaneous lustypants between the hero and heroine while others really liked the heroine’s bravery and her strength. There’s a fair amount of action/mystery/thriller elements in this book, so if that’s your

In this witty, sensual new series, Vanessa Kelly introduces the Renegade Royals, illegitimate sons of the Royal Princes who are finding their rightful places in society…

Accomplished spy Aden St. George prefers to stay away from the frivolous ton, especially after the way his mother was used by the Prince Regent. But his latest mission compels him to guard unconventional, vibrant Lady Vivien Shaw. Rescuing her from kidnappers was easy. Resisting her beauty is not. Duty demands he keep an eye on her—and naturally, his lips soon follow. For someone who views entanglements as a weakness, this is pure, delicious folly…

Though grateful for Aden’s help, Vivien has secrets she must keep hidden. Yet with her abductors still at large, she needs Aden’s protection almost as much as she craves his touch…

  • To Win Her Love

To Win Her Love by Mackenzie Crowne

To Win Her Love by Mackenzie Crowne is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance and the first book in her Players series. There is a forced proximity element, but after reader the description, the plot seems a little farfetched. It reminds me a lot of the scene in Air Bud, where the dog has to choose between the boy and the clown. Unless I imagined that scene.

To win the game, they’ll have to risk losing their hearts…

When a bizarre child custody stipulation pits popular sports blogger Gracie Gable against football superstar Jake Malone, losing the battle for her twin nieces isn’t the only thing Gracie has to worry about. Forced to live for three months under the same roof as the sexy tight end, will she fall prey to his flirtatious pursuit? Or worse, will the skeletons in her closet destroy her chance for the love and family she so desperately wants?

Neglected by his parents as a boy, Jake doesn’t believe in happily ever after. Yet living with Gracie and the twins might be enough to change his mind—and his womanizing ways. But when the press unearths a scandal from Gracie’s past, will he lose the one woman he was ready to open his heart to?

  1. cbackson says:

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is, IMO, one of the most perfect fantasy novels I’ve ever read.

I’m not a fan at all of the sequels and I’ve been mixed on Jemisin’s other work, but that book is a thing of beauty.

  2. Empress of Blandings says:

    Sexy tight end. Fnarr fnarr.

  3. Allison says:

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is one of my favorite fantasy novels, ever, full stop. The sequels have their own virtues and problems, but this can easily be read as stand-alone. Please do yourself the favor of adding it to your library!

  4. Tori Puente says:

Pippa Grant is having a Kindle sale: her 3rd book is free & the 4th is 99 cents. One of the few authors who makes me LOL when I need some zany romcom.

  5. Ele says:

I loved The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, as well as its sequels. This is heresy, but I actually liked them better than Jemisin’s Broken Earth books.

  6. Isua says:

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is so so so so so so so good. I bounced hard off of the start of the first Broken Earth book (NOT because of the writing or anything, just because something VERY SAD happens and I cried too much) but the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms was so good I need to make myself fight the bounce and the crying because I know it’ll be amazing. N.K. Jemisin is amazing. Read the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms!

  7. Rikki says:

I really loved The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. Even though thre Devin book in that trilogy is my favorite, this is an excellent book.

  8. Qqemokitty says:

Y’all are gonna get me to buy that Jemesin book now, dangit. I had a friend rant and rave about this author so much that she gifted me The Fifth Season, and to my shame I have never finished it and it’s been a year or maybe longer. 🙁 I hated how depressing it was and especially dislike the tense the book is written in.

So. Is this book written in the strange current tense or whatever strangeness? Heh.

  9. Tam says:

I loved ‘The Fifth Season’ but found it so profoundly disturbing that I waited a long time to pick up the sequels.

I just went to buy Hundred Thousand Kingdoms, and apparently I bought it years ago and it’s been sitting on my Kindle ever since. I have a PROBLEM.
