Links: Book Recs, Fantasy, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Happy Wednesday! We hope you’ve been enjoying your week and if not, that’s okay. Make sure to take some time for yourself to do something you enjoy. Here are a few links that might do damage to your TBR pile.

Love romantic fantasy? Well there’s a giveaway going on that’s perfect for you! One winner will receive a starter-kit of romantic fantasy books, and twenty runners-up will get a copy of Phoenix Bound by Grace Draven!

If you need a laugh today, do read a recent blog post by The Bloggess:

But then I got home and Dottie refused to let me near her lady garden and I was running after her yelling “LET ME WIPE YOU” but she growled and hid under the table and I was like, “YOUR VAGINA IS A GROUP EFFORT, DOG” and then she tried to bite me and I was like, “LOOK, I’M NOT TRYING TO SHAME YOU. I ASSURE YOU THIS IS ALL PERFECTLY NATURAL FOR A WOMAN” and then Victor came out of his office and yelled about how hard I made it to be professional on conference calls and I was like, “Dude, don’t blame me. Blame your dog’s vagina”…”

I will admit that I laughed until I cried.

BookRiot has a huge list of LGBT fantasy books. How many have you read?

Every Wednesday, we take Instagram book recommendations requests! By clicking on our Instagram story, you’ll be able to submit a trope and genre and within the next few days, you’ll get a book recommendation. We call it Rec It Wednesday!

A few weeks ago in Links, we posted a Twitter thread on some neat wild cats. Well now we have a matching dog thread! Which dog are you?

I personally identify with the raccoon dog.

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

The short-eared dog needs to get together with the short-nosed bear and complain to the naming committee, which apparently consists of the six blind dudes who described an elephant that one time.

LOL – Good thing I didn’t read the post about Dottie while on a conference call! Some days, it’s impossible to be professional on a call with dogs or a history hound husband in the house.

Here’s something for everyone who wants MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 trading cards: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2020657542/mystery-science-theater-3000-trading-cards-series?ref=discovery&term=mystery%20science If only the full set wasn’t so expensive…

TL;DR: I got to travel to Ancient Rome! And you might be able to, depending on smartphone!

Long version, because this is just waay cool:

There is a “BBC Taster App”, for VR experiences. You get the App, download the “Life as a Roman” experience, and pray to whatever deity you worship that your smartphone can run it.

Once it’s done, if it runs, you are in a 360° life-action recreation of a Roman Villa.

(If you can borrow someone’s VR visor, even better.)

OMG the maned Wolf is SO ELEGANT, posing like Beyonce. I might be a Singing Dog, myself…

And “her cooter is borked up” is now my favorite excuse for everything. “Sorry, not coming to work today, my cooter is borked up.”

Didn’t like the use of “bodice ripper” (girl, 1986 called and wants their terminology back), but apparently Bitcoin Billionaire romances are on their way:

Thal has added a Twitter thread with weasels and badgers. All so cute!

Sigh! Another giveaway available only to residents of the USA. And this time there are only ebooks involved.
