Royals, a Historical Romance, & More

  • The Princess Trap

The Princess Trap by Talia Hibbert

The Princess Trap by Talia Hibbert is $2.99! This book just came out February 8 and I immediately one-clicked after seeing it on twitter. It’s a royal romance with a Black heroine and a fake relationship. I’m not a huge fan of smoking, but there’s something I really love about the cover. I think it’s the smug eyebrows. Content warning for scenes of abuse in the book.

He’s reckless, dominant, and deliciously dirty. This prince is no fairytale.

Prince Ruben of Helgmøre knows exactly what he wants—and his current obsession is Cherry Neita. Everything from her rollercoaster curves to her fearsome attitude commands his attention.

And best of all? She has no idea who Ruben is.

Until the paparazzi catch them in a dark alley, her scarlet lipstick smudged, and his hands somewhere naughty…

All Cherry wanted was a night or two with the hottest man she’d ever seen. Turns out, that man is actually a prince, and now he needs her to play princess.

Well, princess-to-be. One year as his fake fiancée, and he’ll make all her problems disappear. Easy. Right?

    Wrong.

The closer Cherry gets to Ruben, the brighter their passion burns. But the royal family hides dark secrets, and their palace is a diamond-studded trap.

Can true love bloom from false beginnings? Or will this fairytale end in a happy-never-after?

The Princess Trap is a steamy, standalone BWWM royal romance. Warning: this book is 70,000+ words of extreme pleasure and intense romance, ending in a HEA. NO cliffhangers and NO cheating. Enjoy responsibly!

  • Bad for Her

Bad for Her by Christi Barth

Bad for Her by Christi Barth is 99c! This contemporary romance is the first book in the Bad Boys Gone Good series, which features heroes in the witness protection program. Readers loved the heroine, so much so, that they said she outshone the hero when it came to keeping their interest. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.

USA Today bestselling author Christi Barth launches a sexy new series about three bad-boy brothers in Witness Protection who are about to learn that going good is harder than they thought…

Doctor Mollie Vickers loves the tight-knit community of her tiny Oregon town. But she’s not a fan of the limited dating options. Sleep with a guy who tried to copy off her in junior high? Pass. Mollie’s sex life is flatlining… until a deliciously handsome man she’s never seen before stops to help her fix a flat tire.

As an ex-mobster, Rafe Maguire’s no saint. But he’s trying to turn over a new leaf. Although he probably shouldn’t kiss the hot doctor on the side of the highway. Or suggest a no-strings fling with a woman he has no business pursuing. Rafe’s life is too complicated for love—his new WITSEC-provided identity doesn’t fit him at all and there’s a U.S. Marshal watching his every move. He can’t tell Mollie the truth… but their chemistry is scorching and being good doesn’t mean he can’t be a little bad.

Mollie can’t resist the guy who looks rough, talks tough, and is loyal to the bone. But it’s obvious Rafe is keeping secrets. When the truth comes out, Mollie must decide if she could ever love an ex-mobster… or if this bad boy has truly gone good.

  • Seducing Charlotte

    Seducing Charlotte by Diana Quincy

Seducing Charlotte by Diana Quincy is 99c at Amazon and Kobo! This is the first book in the Accidental Peers series, and you can grab all four books in the series for less than $10. This is an opposites attract romance with a heroine who’s described as a “social reformer.” Some readers felt there was no real tension, while others like the North & South vibe they got from it.

    Opposites attract…

Even if he is the catch of the season, Charlotte Livingston has a low opinion of the wildly handsome Marquess of Camryn. He’s an industrialist who thinks nothing of replacing workers with machines, depriving them of an honest living. Camryn is everything a social reformer like Charlotte detests. Besides, her loyalty belongs to another man.

    Worlds Collide…

Yet, as a violent machine-breakers rebellion rages across England, an undeniable attraction flares between the passionate adversaries. Camryn vows to destroy the rebel movement, unaware that the spinster who has captured his heart, harbors a secret – a shocking connection to one of its leaders that could shatter them both.

  • Hold Me Until Midnight

Hold Me Until Midnight by Christina Phillips

Hold Me Until Midnight by Christina Phillips is 99c! This is the first book in the Grayson Brothers series. The heroine is in need of a bodyguard, which is catnip for some of you! Though readers say there isn’t anything too remarkable about romance, it’s a quick and sexy read if that’s what you’re looking for.

Every good girl loves a very bad boy…

Scarlett Ashford needs a date for her father’s wedding. Only she doesn’t just need a guy in a suit—she needs a bodyguard. The only problem is that Jackson Grayson is big and gorgeous and way too sexy. So much so that Scarlett’s tempted to let this hot bad boy ruin her oh-so-good reputation…

Jackson doesn’t do relationships and he certainly doesn’t sleep with clients. Yet he can’t fight their inconvenient attraction, or how badly he wants Scarlett’s warm and wicked curves against his body. He wants her. Now. Even if it’s just for one night, and even if walking away the next morning isn’t as easy as he thought.

Besides, one hot and incredibly intense night between a bad boy and a pampered princess could never turn into something real…could it?

  1. Hazel says:

The cover of The Princess Trap didn’t grab me, but I just looked at a sample and was delighted to find the book opens in an English Academy, described by the heroine as monetising education. It is clearly written by someone who has actually lived here in recent years, so I want to read more. The heroine was also an amusingly unrepentant flirt, used to manipulating her weak-willed male colleagues, but likely to be using her powers for good. 🙂

  2. No, the Other Anne says:

@Hazel – thanks for that! I skipped right over the blurb for The Princess Trap, but now, as an English-teaching veteran, perhaps I *am* interested…

  3. cleo says:

Return to Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux is 1.99 at Kobo and Amazon. Haven’t read it.

  4. Cristie says:

Jordan Castillo Price’s Among the Living, first in the Psycop series, is free right now. Can’t recommend this series and author enough.

  5. Scene Stealer says:

I read the “The Princess Trap”. It was okay, but has a similar plot to most of Talia Hibbert’s previous books.

  6. cleo says:

Avery Cockburn’s latest m/m is on sale for 2.99 at Amazon for the duration of the Olympics. Throwing Stones is about curling and is a spin off of her Glasgow Lads soccer / football series. Haven’t read it yet but I’ve enjoyed the Glasgow Lads series.

  7. Ms. M says:

    The marquess is an industrialist???

  8. Hazel says:

@Scene Stealer: But how is The Princess Trap on verisimilitude? Should I not bother?

And is Hibbert really an English writer? Are the other books set here?

  9. Scene Stealer says:

@Hazel, Hibbert is an English writer. Her previous books were set in and around London. She does a good job describing the neighborhoods and atmosphere of the city.

I returned the book without re-reading it. The heroine is not an educator and the setting shifts from England to the fictional kingdom early on.

  10. Hazel says:

@Scene Stealer: Thanks for that. I think I’ll still give it a try.
