Just the Thing
Just the Thing by Marie Harte is 99c! This is the second book in The Donnigans contemporary romance series and features a no strings attached arrangement. Readers say this is an emotional romance with a great happily ever after. However, some found the hero to be rather immature for someone in his thirties.
A FLING MIGHT BE JUST THE THING…
Gavin Donnigan left the Marine Corps a shell of a man, hounded by guilt for deaths he couldn’t prevent. But teaching a self-defense class at the local gym brings some stability to his life—along with a gorgeous leggy blonde who won’t give him the time of day.Zoe York lost her twin sister to a freak car accident a few months ago. With the memory of her sister telling her to live a little, Zoe decides a fling with buns-of-steel Gavin Donnigan might be just the thing.
Soon they’re sparring both in and out of the gym. And for the first time in a long time, each is looking forward to tomorrow.

It Takes a Scandal
It Takes a Scandal by Caroline Linden is $1.99 at most vendors and $2.99 at Barnes & Noble. This is book two in the Scandalous series, and it has a 3.7-star average on GoodReads. Readers particularly liked that the heroine in this book has a loving home life with caring parents and a close relationship with her sister, and that they are not of the nobility. Many readers also loved the beta hero, Sebastian. Have you read this one?
Sometimes It Takes a Scandal…
Abigail Weston has everything: beauty, wit, and one of the largest dowries in England. Her parents hope she’ll wed an earl. Abigail hopes for a man who wants her desperately and passionately. But the money seems to blind every man she meets—except one.
Sebastian Vane has nothing. He came home from war with a shattered leg to find his father mad and his inheritance gone. He’s not a fit suitor for anyone, let alone an heiress. But Abigail lights up his world like a comet, bright and beautiful and able to see him instead of his ruined reputation. And it might end happily ever after…
To Reveal Your Heart’s Desire
…Until Benedict Lennox begins courting Abigail. Ben is everything Sebastian isn’t—wealthy, charming, heir to an earl. Sebastian won’t give up the only girl he’s ever loved without a fight, but Abigail must choose between the penniless gentleman who moves her heart, and the suitor who is everything her parents want.

Never Tear Us Apart
Never Tear Us Apart by Monica Murphy is $1.99! This book came out last year and is a pretty dark romance. The hero is the son of the man who kidnapped the heroine when she was younger. So trigger warning for that. Be warned that there’s also a cliffhanger, so this book may not be for everyone. The second book is available, but it’s not on sale. Never Tear Us Apart has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.
Perfect for readers of Colleen Hoover, Jay Crownover, and K. A. Tucker, the first novel in this darkly sexy contemporary series from bestselling author Monica Murphy kicks off an emotionally powerful two-part tale of forbidden love.
Crazy how eight years can disappear in an instant. One look at Katie Watts, and I’m a fifteen-year-old again–the one who risked everything to save a terrified girl from her twisted kidnapper. She’s grown-up now–beautiful, quiet, composed–and telling her story to the world. A story that involves me in more ways than you can imagine. She used to call me her guardian angel. Sure, I risked my life, but she was worth dying for.
I need to make contact with her. Just to ensure that she’s safe.
Somehow we reconnect. We become friends . . . but I want more. I want to make her mine. And she wants me too. Does she know who I am? Has she figured me out? Not yet. But she will. In the meantime, I need to make sure that whatever hold that animal had on her is gone.
So, yeah, I’m stealing these moments with her. Savoring them. Knowing, dreading, that she’ll soon find out who I really am. And everything will fall apart. All because of that twisted, perverted monster sitting on death row. Her kidnapper. A convicted serial killer.
My father.

The Honorables: The Complete Series
The Honorables by Elizabeth Boyce is $2.99! This series collection contains five historical romances. That’s right, five romances for less than $3! The collection came out last week and so far, doesn’t really have any reviews on Goodreads. But judging by the story descriptions, it contains all sorts of catnip.
No title? No power? No problem. The band of brothers known as The Honorables rock the Regency ton in this refreshing and sophisticated historical romance series by bestselling author Elizabeth Boyce.
Honor Among Thieves: Desperate measures spur Lorna to drastic circumstances when she joins a group of resurrectionists to help pay off her deceased brother’s gambling debts. By day, she’s a respectable lady of society; by night, she’s the infamous graverobber known only as The Blackbird. When she meets surgeon and anatomist Brandon Dewhurst, she experiences love for the first time. But when her secret identity is revealed and tragedy strikes, will that love be lost?
Truth Within Dreams: Desperate to escape her arranged marriage, Miss Claudia Baxter stages her own ruin in the bed of another man, Henry De Vere, a lifelong friend she trusts to go along with the ruse. But when her unwitting accomplice believes something actually happened between them, Claudia may be caught in her own trap.
Duty Before Desire: Consummate rake Lord Sheridan Zouche meets the one woman he cannot seduce—Arcadia Parks, an Englishwoman born and raised in India, who has just arrived in London to find a husband. With nothing to offer but his looks and charm, Sheri’s never been interested in marriage. But to win the favors of the lady he’s become obsessed with, Sheri will have to use every seductive trick at his disposal, and maybe one he’s never tried: love.
Valor Under Siege: Ambitious solicitor Norman Wynford-Scott’s life plan starts with running for the Parliament seat of a local village. Only trouble is, the irresistible woman who once ruined his good name is thwarting his campaign at every turn. Divorced and drink-addicted, Lady Elsa Fay has retreated to the family village of Fleck to regain her sobriety. She’s distracting herself from her troubles by organizing the Parliament campaign of her husband’s cousin. Shamed and determined, Elsa will do all she can to send her adversary packing—even if it means breaking her own heart in the process.
Love Beyond Measure: After a rough start in life, Harrison Dyer wanted a quiet, country existence. But fate (and a storm in the Indian Ocean) drives him to Siam, a world away from everything he’s ever known. In this beautiful, ancient land, Harrison finds Lamai, the woman who can soothe his battered heart. But European trade in the East can be a cutthroat affair—literally—and rivals from another company won’t let Harrison move in on their territory without a fight. Only if he and Lamai put their heads—and hearts—together can they finally find the peace and love they’ve been seeking.

How to Date a Douchebag: The Studying Hours by Sara Ney is 99c at Amazon.
It’s the first volume of a New Adult college sports romance series (which wasn’t a thing when I stopped reading romance 16 years ag…geez, my romance hiatus is old enough to be a young adult). I’m going to be honest: I only read The Studying Hours as a gateway to the second volume in the series, which is totally my catnip, but the first volume has a 3.9 rating at Goodreads and is a worthy romance in its own right.
Also hilariously, I did a search for “douchebag” on this site to see if SB had reviewed it or linked one of its previous sales or acknowledged its existence in any way and got 4 pages of results, none of which were this book.
I read Truth Within Dreams in a novella collection and really liked it. It tackled some iffy aspects related to consent (which you can glean from the description of plot) that I’m sure some people won’t want to read but I thought it was well handled. Also the prologue is kind of vulgar and put me off at first but it serves the purpose of establishing stakes for the hero’s problem.
All that is to say that I will probably end up buying this collection because Boyce seems like a promising author. Plus, non-aristocratic historicals are totally my catnip (heh, Cat-nip).
Also, to write this comment I went to look at my Goodreads review and realized I’d never input it. So, uh, thanks for helping me realize it?
I very recently read It Takes a Scandal and definitely liked it – it’s sort of a cross between warm-n-fluffy and gothic. Sebastian rocks the “brooding, solitary, mysterious, scarred, and surrounded by sinister rumors” aspects of a gothic hero, without arrogance or jerkishness and with respect for Abigail.
Each of Elizabeth Boyce’s individual novels included in the box set The Honorables has a 4 or 4 1/2 star rating on Amazon.
