  • You May Kiss the Bride

You May Kiss the Bride by Lisa Berne

PODCAST RECOMMENDEDYou May Kiss the Bride by Lisa Berne is $1.99! Former Avon publicist, Jessie Edwards, had some great things to say about this book on a previous podcast episode:

There’s so much tension, there’s so much passive-aggressiveness going on, and there’s just sharp comment after sharp comment, that it’s like all of this, Jane-Austen-esque level of wit running through it, and the social dynamics that are displayed there. I was fascinated by it.

In an unforgettable debut, Lisa Berne introduces you to the Penhallow Dynasty—men destined to marry, but hesitant to love.

Wealthy and arrogant, Gabriel Penhallow knows it’s time to fulfill his dynastic duty. All he must do is follow “The Penhallow way”—find a biddable bride, produce an heir and a spare, and then live separate lives. It’s worked so well for generations, certainly one kiss with the delectable Livia Stuart isn’t going to change things. Society dictates he marry her, and one chit is as good as another as long as she’s from a decent family.

But Livia’s transformation from an original to a mundane diamond of the first water makes Gabriel realize he desperately wants the woman who somehow provoked him into that kiss. And for all the ladies who’ve thrown themselves at him, it’s the one who wants to flee whom he now wants. But how will he keep this independent miss from flying away?

  • In Bed with a Highlander

In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks

In Bed with a Highlander by Maya Banks is 99c! This is the first book in the McCabe Trilogy and features a forced/arranged marriage. Some felt the historical romance seemed a little too modern, but others recommend it for a quick, fun read. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.

Ewan McCabe, the eldest, is a warrior determined to vanquish his enemy. Now, with the time ripe for battle, his men are ready and Ewan is poised to take back what is his—until a blue-eyed, raven-haired temptress is thrust upon him. Mairin may be the salvation of Ewan’s clan, but for a man who dreams only of revenge, matters of the heart are strange territory to conquer.

The illegitimate daughter of the king, Mairin possesses prized property that has made her a pawn—and wary of love. Her worst fears are realized when she is rescued from peril only to be forced into marriage by her charismatic and commanding savior, Ewan McCabe. But her attraction to her ruggedly powerful new husband makes her crave his surprisingly tender touch; her body comes alive under his sensual mastery. And as war draws near, Mairin’s strength, spirit, and passion challenge Ewan to conquer his demons—and embrace a love that means more than revenge and land.

  • So Into You

So Into You by Remmy Duchene

So Into You by Remmy Duchene is 99c! This is a gay romance with diverse heroes and some class differences. It’s pretty angsty. Some readers enjoyed the elements of family drama, while others thought there was too much of it. Have you read this one?

Lust to Love in its purest form…

Alfred Leung’s life is in the crapper. From his gold-digging, racist mother and a cheating ex-boyfriend to his hang-ups about sex—everything in his existence depresses him. Add to it spending his days serving faux French food in a diner. It isn’t how he planned on spending the rest of his life—the fates have definitely conspired against him. Just out of a relationship, he decides to focus on work and going back to one of the things that makes him happy—photography. Then Darius Stark in his Armani suit walks through the door of the diner, and Alfred’s world is about to take on a spin he never saw coming.

Darius Stark hasn’t been with a man in years. Men see the suit and run screaming in the other direction or they tear-ass toward him because they see dancing dollar signs. He decides to focus on his business, but soon he’s buried himself so deeply in his work that years goes by without someone to love. Finally, he sees Alfred and wants him, but Darius is about to find out not everyone thinks he’s almighty and that some men are flawed.

When Philippa’s high school crush turns up on her doorstep, she knows better than to trust the bad boy who broke her heart. Nick proves that he’s determined to fix his past mistakes in Third Time Lucky – does Philippa dare to give him another chance?

In Double Trouble, self-reliant Maralys breaks her own rules to help out her twin sister’s husband and kids when her sister walks out forever. 1. Amy says:

I really enjoyed You May Kiss the Bride-I’ve noted when the next book is coming out, which is always a good sign

  2. CelineB says:

I found the pacing a little uneven in You May Kiss the Bride and one or two minor quibbles with the story, but enjoyed it overall. The interactions/dialogue between the hero and heroine are definitely the best part. I chalked up the small issues I had to being a debut book and I’m looking forward to checking out the next book in the series.

  3. Heather S says:

I enjoyed You May Kiss the Bride, as well.

  4. Sara says:

“Honor among thieves” by Elizabeth Boyce is on sale for 99 cents on amazon and other retailers – sounds quite interesting, a grave robbing heroine and hero in search of corpses for medical research- had anyone here read this title?

  5. qqemokitty says:

I couldn’t help but laugh at “The Coxwells” series. Really, Coxwells?

    More like cock swells. 😛

Excited to pick up kiss the bride, been hankering for a good historical. The MM intrigues me too but I am worried it will be too angsty/depressing.

  6. KarenF says:

That’s a good deal on the Deborah Cooke set… I have all four books already, and I’ve read them more than once (“Double Trouble” and “All or Nothing” are keeper shelf worthy… the other two are hit/miss, but worth it for the background characters).
