Links: Dragons, Christmas Cats, & Giveaways

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses. It’s Wednesday, which means that it’s time for links! I don’t know about you, but here in New England, it’s raining and pretty cold, which has severely reduced my productivity. Hopefully, these links will give you a brief distraction, so you we can tackle the rest of our work with full force!

It’s that time of year where NPR releases their Book Concierge! This thing is so neat when it comes to book discovery:

Use the filters below to explore more than 300 titles NPR staff and critics loved this year. (You can also combine filters!)

And you can access the previous years’ Book Concierge, going all the way back to 2008. I’ll be praying for your TBR.

If you need a little dose of cuteness, Buzzfeed has a great collection of photos of cats and kittens getting into the Christmas spirit by finding a comfy spot in their owners’ Christmas trees. In my family, we never really had cats, but I do remember our Great Dane doing donuts around the tree until the wind from his running knocked it over.

The romance documentary, Love Between the Covers, is now available on demand for international viewers (non-U.S. and Canadian) through Vimeo!

Dragons meet tea in this super beautiful web comic. If you have some free time, give The Tea Dragon Society a read:

The Tea Dragon Society is a webcomic created by Katie O’Neill, that upon completion will be published as a book by Oni Press. It follows the story of Greta, a blacksmith apprentice, and the people she meets as she becomes entwined in the enchanting world of tea dragons.

The comic updates weekly and I’m definitely going to grab a copy once it’s published.

Frixion Erasable Pens

I love these pens far more than is probably natural. They write smoothly, they erase for real (yes, way!), and they come in a bunch of colors. I have one with me at all times.

Lastly, we have some great giveaways going on! On the site, Withings is giving away a fitness watch and a cool digital scale. Also, starting today, we’re doing 12 days of giveaways over on our Instagram account! We have some upcoming releases, holiday titles, and more.

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

Went through the Book Concierge, added a few holds at my library. A worthy use of the afternoon. I’ve been eyeing Underground Airlines, but I think I want to hold off until February, because either that or Underground Railroad is going to be the pick for that month.

Can’t thank you enough for the NPR link. Found 2 books at least, to add to my Xmas list!

  3. Darlynne says:

I so enjoyed Love Between the Covers. It was fun to see faces of people whose books I’ve read or with whom I’ve corresponded. I hope everyone watches it.

  4. Cristiane says:

I’m reading one of the NPR recommendations, “The Romanovs” by Simon Sebag Montefiore, and it is AMAZING. SO good. The writing has a very dry wit, and it’s very clear – I’m on the next-to-last tsar, and I haven’t been confused by all the people with similar names. Excellent.

OMG OMG the Tea Dragons! OMG!!!
    (Fainted due to cutness overload)

Please enter me in the giveaway. Two things I’m planning to do: continue going to Weight Watchers each week (I lost 20 lbs this year) and try to take up a meditation practice. I love your blog and podcast, thank you for them both!
