The Heiress Effect
RECOMMENDED: The Heiress Effect by Courtney Milan is 99c! This is the second book in the Brothers Sinister series. Redheadedgirl absolutely loved this book and gave it an A+:
COURTNEY MILAN HOW DO YOU BRAIN.
There was NOT A GOOD GODDAMN THING I DID NOT LIKE ABOUT THIS BOOK. Nothing.
Miss Jane Fairfield can’t do anything right. When she’s in company, she always says the wrong thing—and rather too much of it. No matter how costly they are, her gowns fall on the unfortunate side of fashion. Even her immense dowry can’t save her from being an object of derision.
And that’s precisely what she wants. She’ll do anything, even risk humiliation, if it means she can stay unmarried and keep her sister safe.
Mr. Oliver Marshall has to do everything right. He’s the bastard son of a duke, raised in humble circumstances—and he intends to give voice and power to the common people. If he makes one false step, he’ll never get the chance to accomplish anything. He doesn’t need to come to the rescue of the wrong woman. He certainly doesn’t need to fall in love with her. But there’s something about the lovely, courageous Jane that he can’t resist…even though it could mean the ruin of them both.

The Diabolical Miss Hyde
RECOMMENDED: The Diabolical Miss Hyde by Viola Carr is $1.99! Elyse read this when she was dipping her toe into steampunk and she really enjoyed it. She gave the book an A:
I recently started reading steampunk, and I’m so glad I did because I found The Diabolical Miss Hyde by Viola Carr. This book is part steampunk, part fantasy, part romance and part mystery, but all of it is delicious.
Forensic science, magic, mystery, and romance mix in this edgy steampunk fantasy—a retelling of the horror classic, in which Dr. Eliza Jekyll, daughter of the infamous Dr. Henry Jekyll—pursues a dangerous murderer in an alternate Victorian London.
In an electrified Victorian London, Dr. Eliza Jekyll is a crime scene investigator, hunting killers with newfangled technological gadgets. She will need every advantage available to catch a terrifying new psychopath splattering London with blood. Hidden in the grimy shadows, the fiendish murderer preys on beautiful women, drugging them before slicing off their limbs. Finding the “Slicer” can make Eliza’s career . . . or unmask her darkest secret. Like her father, she has a hidden second self that emerges when she drinks his forbidden magical elixir. Just a few sips, and a seductive and impulsive Lizzie Hyde is unleashed.
The members of the Royal Society do not trust Eliza, and they send their enforcer, the mercurial Captain Lafayette, to prove she’s a dangerous sorceress. The careful doctor knows that one wrong step can make her prey to the clever Lafayette, a man who harbors an evil curse of his own. No matter how much she craves the elixir, she must resist.
But as the Slicer case draws her into London’s luminous magical underworld, Eliza will need the potion’s power to help her . . . even if it might attract the attentions of Lafayette. .
Even if it means setting the wild Lizzie free. . . .

No Mistress of Mine
No Mistress of Mine by Laura Lee Guhrke is $1.99! This is a historical romance that came out back in August. It features a second chance, opposites attract romance. Some readers had difficulty liking the protagonists, while others really enjoyed the scandalous heroine. Have you read this one?
USA Today bestselling author Laura Lee Guhrke is back with the latest in her dazzling An American Heiress in London series, in which a reformed rogue finds all his honorable resolutions tested by the only woman who ever broke his heart…
After spending his youth as one of the wildest rakes in the ton, Lord Denys Somerton has devoted the past six years to putting his past behind him. He is determined to fulfill his duties, find a suitable wife, and start a family, but that plan changes when Lola Valentine—the red-haired temptress from his past—returns to London, sparking the same irresistible desires that almost ruined his life once before.
Lola is a woman with no romantic illusions. She knew love would never be enough for a British lord and an American girl from the wrong side of the tracks. For Denys’s sake, she walked away from him and the glittering life he offered. But when an unexpected inheritance brings her back to London, Lola discovers the passion between them is as hot as ever. Can they vanquish it, or will it burn out of control again and destroy them both?

Touch of Enchantment
Touch of Enchantment by Teresa Medeiros is 99c! This is a time travel historical romance and is the second book in the Lennox Family Magic series. Some readers loved the heroine who is both a witch and a bit of a genius, but others thought she came across more like a “spoiled rich girl.” It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
From the bestselling author of Breath of Magic and Shadows and Lace comes a beguiling new time-travel love story in the hilarious, magical voice that has made Teresa Medeiros one of the nation’s most beloved romance writers.
Heiress Tabitha Lennox considered her paranormal talents more a curse than a gift. So she dedicated her life to the cold, rational world of science. Until the day she examined the mysterious amulet her mother had left her and found herself catapulted seven centuries into the past—directly into the path of a rearing black charger ridden by a chain-mailed warrior.
Sir Colin of Ravenshaw had returned from the Crusades to find his castle in ruins, his enemy poised to overrun the land where generations of Ravenshaws had ruled. The last thing he expected was to half trample a damsel with odd garb and even odder manners. But it is her strange talent that will create trouble beyond Colin’s wildest imaginings. For everyone knows that a witch must be burned…but it is Colin’s heart that is aflame, over an enchanting woman he must not love, yet cannot live without.

I’m sure this has been mentioned before, but it popped up in one of my deal-mails today and I know there are a lot of fans of this series: the four-book Blades of the Rose bundle by Zoe Archer is $2.99 everywhere I checked.
If you haven’t read the Brothers Sinister series, GET ON THAT. I have laughed out loud/made certified Good Book Noises in bars while reading Courtney Milan. (And, friends, if it weren’t awkward enough reading in bars…) This series is on my comfort shelf, and I’m planning to break it out again in the next few weeks (maybe days) because it’s officially winter now, and I’m cranky.
@Ren Benton If it was mentioned before, I missed it. Thanks for the tip!
@Starling I totally hear you. Sometimes you just want a pint and to be left alone on your book date.
Now to put this comment on the correct post! His Christmas Gift by Sarah Mayberry is .99 at Amazon. I read it last night and enjoyed it. A connected book featuring the hero’s sister by Kat Latham, Three Nights Before Christmas, just went on sale for .99 as well.
“Kushiel’s Dart” by Jaqueline Carey is $2.99!!!
“Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel” by Sara Farizan, a YA novel about an Iranian-American girl falling for a new girl at her private school, is $1.99!
@Starling: A person after my own heart. If I’m dragged to a bar, I am hiding my Kindle in my purse. Oh wait, my Kindle is always in my purse.
Oh man, is it wrong that my Kindle is always in my purse too?
I’ve had the Brothers Sinister boxed set for awhile and just haven’t gotten around to starting it. But I’ll have a couple long car trips over the holidays, so maybe it’s time to start.
@Lauren, that car trip is going to fly by, in that case 🙂
The Heiress Effect is F***ING AMAZING!!!!
All of you: one-click NOW!!!
