Books On Sale

Huge Harlequin Sale!

By now, I’m sure you’ve seen the massive sale going on for Harlequin books! From today until November 17th, Harlequin is celebration “10,000 Titles for 10 Years of Ebooks,” by putting thousands of titles on sale for $1.99 each at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo US, Apple, Google, and Harlequin.com. Harlequin also built a handy search site so you can see which authors are on sale.

We can’t list all the titles here or else my fingers my turn into bloody stumps, but what we can do is try and call out specific authors and imprints! I’m still not sure which imprints are part of the sale, but I’m going to include Amazon links to them all anyway. If I left off an imprint, let me know and I’ll be happy to add it. HQN, MIRA, and Harlequin Teen do have a few titles at a discounted price as well, but they aren’t part of this particular sale.

  • The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Stable-Girl

The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Stable-Girl by Sharon Kendrick

The Playboy Sheikh’s Virgin Stable-Girl by Sharon Kendrick is $1.99! Sarah personally has some things to say about this book:

This is a truly momentous occasion. If you haven’t read this book, you should. Perhaps you might want to read the review first, but that tends to spoil things. This is the book I talk about when I talk about how negative reviews sell books. When I describe this book in a workshop, someone in the room buys it immediately. And, Sharon Kendrick, who is a marvelous human being in every way, dedicated her next book to me, because this book, as she put it, “has flown.” So for $2, you too can experience The Best Line Ever Written I Think:

“Kaliq dismounted with the same speed and grace as he would remove himself from the body of a woman he had just made love to.”

Kaliq is a highly sexed man. This book is highly amazing, and so is the author. And it’s $1.99. Go on, little lizard, treat yourself.

Polo-playing sheikh Prince Kaliq Al’Farisi loves his women as much as his horses. They’re wild, willing, and he’s their master!

Stable girl Eleni is a local Calistan. Raised by her brutal father on the horse-racing circuit, she feels unlovable. When her precious horses are given to Sheikh Kaliq, she refuses to be parted from them.

The playboy sheikh is determined to bed Eleni–and when Kaliq realizes she’s a virgin, the challenge only becomes more interesting….

  • The Mistress

    The Mistress by Maya Banks

The Mistress by Maya Banks is 99c! If the book seems familiar, that’s because it used to be a category romance from Harlequin titled The Tycoon’s Pregnant Mistress. You can see it’s gotten a bit of a makeover. Be forewarned that this book has prenesia (pregnancy + amnesia) and kidnapping. The holy WTF trifecta! Depending on how much crazysauce you like, readers either loved it or hated it. You can look through more of Maya Banks’ Harlequin titles here!

Mistress. It sounded so sordid, so impersonal, so far removed from the kind of relationship Marley Jameson had with Greek hotel magnate Chrysander Anetakis. Until it all came crashing down around them.

Three months later, Marley awakened in the hospital with no memory of what happened before she got there. She couldn’t remember her past, Chrysander…or the baby she carried. All she knew was that when Chrysander showed up and whisked her away to his private Greek island, being with him felt like home.

    Until she remembered the truth…

  • Yours Forever

    Yours Forever by Farrah Rochon

Yours Forever by Farrah Rochon is $1.99! This book was nominated for a RITA® this year in the Short Contemporary Romance category. During our RITA® Reader Challenge, Reader Flameglimmer gave this book a B-:

Tamryn is a huge history nerd and she is not the least bit embarrassed by that. When she gets to spend days upon days in the archives at the local university, she is beyond ecstatic. The only thing that excites her more than old documents is the sight of Matt’s butt in tight jeans.

Overall, I liked Yours Forever. It was very readable – I read most of it in a single sitting – but I also wouldn’t be recommending it to people as an amazing book that they have to read. An enjoyable read, but nothing outstanding for the genre.

And of course, many of Rochon’s titles are part of Harlequin’s huge sale!

Can the sins of the past…

Louisiana powerhouse attorney Matthew Gauthier has spent a lifetime safeguarding his prominent family’s scandalous history. So when Tamryn West makes it her mission to dig up the past, Matthew must do everything in his power to stop her. But his plan to distract the alluring history professor begins to send his own passions raging out of control.

…become the hope of the future?

Tamryn came to the town of Gauthier to find the diary that could be the missing link to her grandmother and her enduring legacy. In the process, she stumbles onto the secrets of another family—secrets Matt will protect at any cost. As his sensual touch awakens Tamryn’s deepest desires, will a revelation that could make her career cost Matt his political dreams—and their future together?

  • Body Check

    Body Check by Elle Kennedy

Body Check by Elle Kennedy is $1.99! Before The Deal ( A | K | AB | Scribd ), there was Body Check. This is a sports contemporary romance with a hockey player hero and a heroine wanting a one night stand. Readers definitely see this as a great, quick read, though others had trouble believing the chemistry between the main characters. Lovers of Kennedy’s romantic suspense will also enjoy the big list on sale from Harlequin.

Hard body? Check. Awesome-night-in-the-sack potential? Check! Hayden Houston is breaking out of her good-girl mode. It’s time for a one-night stand–and she’s found just the man for the job! She spent her childhood being dragged from rink to rink by her hockey-coach father. Now Hayden craves stability. And she’s determined to get it–after this one night….

When hockey star Brody Croft sees the sexy brunette at the bar, he’s riveted. He’s ready to shed his bad-boy ways and settle down. And after a mind-blowing night in bed with Hayden, he knows she’s the one.

Now all he has to do is convince her….

  1. Hi Amanda

Harlequin Romance also have a number of titles in the sale. Thanks for the shout out!

  2. Don’t forget that Pregnesia is on sale too! Classic Carla Cassidy . ..

  3. Gillian says:

The Elle Kennedy Body Check a Amazon link took me to the Deal

  4. Amanda says:

@Gillian: Did you click the Amazon button at the end of the entry? There’s a link to The Deal in the text, so maybe you clicked on that?

  5. Heather S says:

Kat Cantrell shared a pic on her FB that said this Harlequin sale involves 10,000 (!) books!

  6. Katie Lynn says:

I’m a big fan of their Carina imprint, there are a lot of great books that I’ve read for sale there. Huge recommendation for Bonds of Need by Lynda Aicher, which is BDSM, and addresses relationships that are abusive under the guise of BDSM. It’s really well done.

  7. Kerri says:

I was really excited about the Harlequin sale until I realised it’s not available in the UK. I was looking forward to filling in some gaps in my collection 🙁

Hope everyone else enjoys the sale.

  8. Milly says:

That moment when you click on the link to buy and it actually comes up as you have already purchased this item! How in the world did The Playboy Sheikh make it to the bottom of my digital TBR pile?! Gotta go retrieve and read… that review was awesome and I can totally see some fun reading ahead!

  9. Turophile says:

I’m excited about the Harlequin sale, but overwhelmed at the same time. Maybe start a comment thread with some recommendations?

  10. Amanda says:

@Turophile: What a coincidence! Today’s Books on Sale post is going to feature some recs from Sarah and invite readers to help share their own suggestions. So keep your eyes peeled for that today!

  11. kitkat9000 says:

OMG, but I am miserable! Why the hell couldn’t these sales (I’m including the previous one which included Georgette Heyer as well) have happened when I had extra money in budget? WHY? The books I would have bought and loved, been happy reading! And all I get for it instead is the knowledge that I was an adult this month and my damn bills are paid. This sucks.

  12. Nuha says:

I’ve got a question for those of you who liked that horrible sheikh book–do you actually know an actual Middle Eastern and/or Muslim person in real life? I’m curious.

  13. SB Sarah says:

    @Nuha:

There’s no easy way to set aside the many-layered WTFery of portrayals of the Middle East in the Presents universe, though several professors have studied the politics of the imagined kingdoms in that world and found some surprising interpretations. I don’t as a rule like the romances that feature sheikhs, but my enjoyment of this one is based on embracing how utterly off the wall it is, to the point where it’s almost a parody of itself. That said, I can completely understand why you’d find the sub-genre as a whole distasteful.
