Book Cover Thanks to the many people who spread the word about Beverly Barton’s latest book release on Tuesday.

From the comments to the entry, here are the winners

I hope her book does stunningly well, and that everyone who has a copy really enjoys it.

I also want to highlight this comment from Tricky:

This sad event made me realize how very little I do to let my favorite authors know how much I enjoy their work.

This past weekend, after reading about Beverly’s death, I wrote several emails to several authors thanking them for making my day a little brighter.

I wish we’d all had time to send her fan mail.

Got an author whose books rock your world? Good call, Tricky – fan mail is an awesome thing. Don’t miss a chance to say thanks for the awesome.

fan letter to Lois Bujold sent. And I got a nice reply directly from her, too.

I sent an email to Amy Lane after I finished crying after I finished reading Hammer & Air.  It had such a beautiful, heart-wrenching ending that I seriously sat down (after making sure no one else was home) and sobbed my heart out.

    She also responded directly.

I also send thank-yous to Patricia Briggs, who’s made my world richer.

  3. Hell Cat says:

I’ve been known to send a fan email, or communicate through social networking, when I get word a favorite writer is online. (Melissa Marr is a blast to talk to, and Eileen Wilks. Don’t forget Alyssa Day’s running life commentary and conversings.) I think, personally, it’s the only way we can get anything across with snail mail taking too long and life too chaotic. So many authors reply back, too. It’s amazing to be responded to. To matter, even momentarily, because often the writers impact you in little ways when you least expect it.

Hey, SB Sarah and SB Candy, thanks.  Thanks every day for bringing people together that make me think, cry and laugh so hard I snarf diet coke out of my nose.
