Anne of a Different Island by Virginia Kantra is $1.99! This is a standalone with a bit of a meta plot. The heroine, Anne, has always been inspired by Anne of Green Gables. I’m sure if this is a full on romance or if the romance is more of a subplot.
Black Sheep by Rachel Harrison is $1.99! I really enjoy Harrison’s horror novels. I read this one and gave it a B-:
While I could have used more oomph overall, the delivery is full of enough sardonic quips and macabre comedy that I had to keep reading.

Sin and Ink by Naima Simone is 99c! This is the first book in the Sweetest Taboo series and is an erotic contemporary. This one has been recommended to me by several of my fellow romance readers because I love a good dose of angst. Reviews say this one is definitely angsty and intense, if that is or isn’t your thing.
I’m generally a fan of Rachel Harrison’s horror novels. They tend to offer up commentary on things like toxic friendships, trauma, and complicated family dynamics in this darkly comedic, hyperbolic package. When I heard this blended the prodigal daughter of a cult with the catharsis of rebuilding after escaping a narcissistic mother, it jumped to the top of my TBR pile.
