If you like immersive, action-driven fantasy and if you want a fantasy world that’s not Euro-centric–or if you just love a really, really good story–I cannot recommend The Fifth Season enough.
The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie is $2.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals and is being price-matched at select vendors. Leckie’s Ancillary Justice is a favorite with Carrie and SBTB commenters. Readers loved the Hamlet-inspired plot, but warn that the book contains first and second POV, which takes some getting used to.
The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher is $1.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! I had mixed feelings on this one. I loved listening to it on audio, though I did tear up at times since I listed to it following Carrie’s death. However, the book exclusively deals with Carrie’s experiences on the set of Star Wars and I wanted more of a broader scope.

Carrie Fisher’s death on December 27 has … Continue reading We Love You, Carrie Fisher→

Hopefully, next year will be leagues better than this one! … I will warn you that this first link is not for those with sensitive stomachs as it does deal with grisly crime scenes. However, Broadly’s interview with women who work in crime scene clean up was fascinating: Cleaning. It’s not for … Continue reading Links: Carrie Fisher, Asexual Characters, & a Cat Documentary→
