I didn’t receive a 2016 RITA® Reader Challenge review for this book, so I’m compiling quotes from reviews online and using the grade average from Goodreads as a substitute.
This book has a 3.78 average, which I’m interpreting as a B+.

…I loved the way the book was written. From the start you’re thrown right into all the confusion and you’re left to figure out everything along with the survivors as they piece together all the clues, making you feel as though you were right there with them. Altered was not at all what I was expecting based of the synopsis, which can be a good thing if it surprises you and you end up enjoying it more however in this case it just didn’t work for me. The plot was too fast paced, I know, I know what your thinking… Too fast-paced? Is there such a thing? Yes…

This book took me completely by surprise with how much I actually enjoyed it.
Right from the start it was fast paced, action packed and the characters were likeable. I kind of expected this to be a bit of a fluff read but it was so much more than that.
It reminded me of the film Chronicle a little bit, with the new powers, the nosebleeds etc.
I wasn’t even bothered that there was NO SEX and that is saying something for me. There was enough chemistry and romance along with all the suspense.
This has set everything up nicely for the next book and I can’t wait for it.
…The romance was the best part of the story, which was a huge part of it. Seth and Blue developed feelings quickly but didn’t trust each other right away. It had an instalove vibe but it didn’t bother me much. They took more time getting to know each other than in other novels like this.
I had expected there to be more in terms of plot. The majority of the book they were on the run and it got slightly repetitive. I hadn’t realized until the book was over that this is the first in a series because there wasn’t really a resolution at the end. All of the character’s fates were left unexplained. I wouldn’t say it ended with a cliffhanger. It’s more like the story ended at a random point half way through…

I liked this one fairly well too, though I put it at 3.5 and would have called it a C+/B
I read this and enjoyed a very great deal.
