  1. Josh says:

I did have a beloved Handspring Visor, but only right at the very end: I mostly just read e-books on a PC. And oh man, the early days of e-ink and everyone getting excited about the possibility of flexible displays… and you mentioning people putting it in their purse has me picturing (I know they don’t fold that sharply, but) an eReader that’s a fan. Swoosh!

Also dying at your immediate response to Ali Hazelwood bingo card.

  2. Kareni says:

I believe that I read a few short e-books/novellas on my desktop computer before receiving a Kindle in 2014.
Thanks for a fun conversation, Sarah and Amanda.

  3. JoanneBB says:

I had a series of Sony ereaders, I really went brand loyal early. I found a review for one of them, it was SO pink

    https://www.cnet.com/reviews/sony-reader-pocket-edition-prs-350-review/

I was so frustrated when I basically had to go Kobo or kindle… and I actually have both.

  4. Sandra says:

B&N came out with a PC app early on, and I used it for years even after I bought my first nook. It downloaded the epub files to my computer and I could move them to other devices. Even though B&N finally deprecated it, the files are all still on my back-up drive. Probably about as close as I’ll get to actually owning any of my ebooks. And there are some books in that folder that don’t even show up in my B&N digital library any more.

I also had a Palm Pilot, but never read on it. But I did keep wishlists for when I went to the bookstore and the UBS.

  5. Gilkp says:

The first e book I read was by Suzanne Brockmann. A short story about Jules, I think. I read it on the kindle app though, not a palm or similar

  6. Betsydub says:

@SarahSB – I don’t think La Nora has read this transcript yet, because if she had, I think that she would have gently – but firmly – asked that you make the correction required in the following sentence ASAP: “…she wrote a short series that was all set around the Antietam battlefield in Pennsylvania”. I only hope it’s not too late to rescind the state of Maryland’s emergency order to immediately send you back to New Jersey… (prayer hands emoji).

  7. @SB Sarah says:

LORD have mercy that’s a nice big mistake, LOL. Thank you for the correction! The terribly embarrassing part: I grew up in Pittsburgh. So PA is also mad at me.

    WELL DONE, ME!
