Temporary Content & Community Assistant
Overview:
SBTB LLC is looking for a detail-focused and extremely well-organized creative book lover for a part-time, remote position as Content & Community Assistant to provide essential support to the daily operations of Smart Bitches Trashy Books and Smart Podcast Trashy Books. This role is suited to someone who is passionate about romance fiction, familiar with our content and our community, and proficient in social media, creative writing, data entry, and content management.
Dates: November 1, 2026 through June 1, 2027
Dates may shift as needed but a minimum of 7 months.
Details:
- Part Time, Independent Contractor
- Hours: 20 hours per week
- Location: Remote, US Based
- Reporting to: Sarah Wendell
- Pay: $16.25/hour USD.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Management and Data Entry
- Update internal database with book release metadata, including author information, affiliate links, content/trigger warnings, and images.
- Draft and format posts in WordPress, ensuring that links, images, tags, and inclusions are correctly formatted according to house style and CMS limitations.
- Schedule reviews, posts, and other content with correct formatting and internal links.
- Monitor comments and social media interactions to maintain a welcoming and safe environment for discussion.
- Research upcoming book releases, sales, and industry news.
Social Media Management
- Design, schedule, and publish creative content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Bluesky to promote new posts, sales, and reviews
- Monitor social media trends within the romance community
- Suggest and develop social media content for increased engagement
Writing, Community Management, and Moderation
- Coordinate and create signature SBTB content including Books on Sale, Hide Your Wallet, Help a Bitch Out, Links, and Sales posts
- Coordinate monthly features such as Cover Snark, Whatcha Reading, and others as needed
- Format and schedule weekly Books on Sale newsletter
- Provide oversight and moderation of comments to existing content
Required Skills, Qualifications and Proficiencies
- Communication: Excellent written communication skills with the ability to adapt your style to align with our style guide and brand voice
- Technical Skills: Fluent understanding of social media scheduling tools, Google sheets, Google docs, Slack, and WordPress
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple ongoing and repeating tasks with daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
- Enthusiasm: Active engagement with romance fiction, the publishing industry, genre trends, and the book blogging community
