This HaBO is from Eddie, who is hoping to find this romance:
I am losing my mind trying to remember the title of a romantic suspense book I read sometime in the 2010s. I have a very clear picture of the physical book and some wildly specific plot points, but the title and author completely escape me.
The Physical Book & Publisher Clues:
I am almost positive it was a category romance maybe Silhouette/Harlequin.
It had a purple stripe across the cover.
I also strongly remember a moon logo being associated with the publisher or imprint.
The Characters:
The Hero: A classic, brooding romance lead. He is a total outcast in his town because his father was accused of murder in the past, and he is plagued by this family history.
The Heroine: She comes to town for a specific reason that I cannot quite remember, but she ends up getting entangled with the hero.
The Plot & Key Scenes:
There is a very distinct scene where the hero is in the forest and is actively being hunted and shot at.
Either during this shootout or in the same forest, the hidden bones of a child are discovered, which ties into the larger mystery (and likely his father’s past).
The book had some sexually explicit scenes, but it was fairly moderate spice—nothing incredibly crazy.
If anyone remembers this outcast hero and his forest shootout, I would be forever grateful!
