You Had Me at Hola
You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria is $1.99! We mentioned this in previous Hide Your Wallet posts and it was recommended on a couple podcasts. We were all very excited for it and look at that dang cover! Apologies if this is a deal leftover from the weekend.
RITA ® Award Winning author Alexis Daria brings readers an unforgettable, hilarious rom-com set in the drama-filled world of telenovelas—perfect for fans of Jane the Virgin and The Kiss Quotient.
Leading Ladies do not end up on tabloid covers.
After a messy public breakup, soap opera darling Jasmine Lin Rodriguez finds her face splashed across the tabloids. When she returns to her hometown of New York City to film the starring role in a bilingual romantic comedy for the number one streaming service in the country, Jasmine figures her new “Leading Lady Plan” should be easy enough to follow—until a casting shake-up pairs her with telenovela hunk Ashton Suárez.
Leading Ladies don’t need a man to be happy.
After his last telenovela character was killed off, Ashton is worried his career is dead as well. Joining this new cast as a last-minute addition will give him the chance to show off his acting chops to American audiences and ping the radar of Hollywood casting agents. To make it work, he’ll need to generate smoking-hot on-screen chemistry with Jasmine. Easier said than done, especially when a disastrous first impression smothers the embers of whatever sexual heat they might have had.
Leading Ladies do not rebound with their new costars.
With their careers on the line, Jasmine and Ashton agree to rehearse in private. But rehearsal leads to kissing, and kissing leads to a behind-the-scenes romance worthy of a soap opera. While their on-screen performance improves, the media spotlight on Jasmine soon threatens to destroy her new image and expose Ashton’s most closely guarded secret.

Best Laid Plaids
Best Laid Plaids by Ella Stainton is $1.99! This is a m/m romance set in 1920s Scotland with ghosts! Lots of catnip here. I also love that cover. Anything with a dog gets a second look from me!
In 1920s Scotland, even ghosts wear plaid.
Welcome to a sexy, spooky new paranormal historical series from debut author Ella Stainton.
Scotland, 1928
Dr. Ainsley Graham is cultivating a reputation as an eccentric.
Two years ago, he catastrophically ended his academic career by publicly claiming to talk to ghosts. When Joachim Cockburn, a WWI veteran studying the power of delusional thinking, arrives at his door, Ainsley quickly catalogues him as yet another tiresome Englishman determined to mock his life’s work.
But Joachim is tenacious and openhearted, and Ainsley’s intrigued despite himself. He agrees to motor his handsome new friend around to Scotland’s most unmistakable hauntings. If he can convince Joachim, Ainsley might be able to win back his good name and then some. He knows he’s not crazy—he just needs someone else to know it, too.
Joachim is one thesis away from realizing his dream of becoming a psychology professor, and he’s not going to let anyone stop him, not even an enchanting ginger with a penchant for tartan and lewd jokes. But as the two travel across Scotland’s lovely—and definitely, definitely haunted—landscape, Joachim’s resolve starts to melt. And he’s beginning to think that an empty teaching post without the charming Dr. Graham would make a very poor consolation prize indeed…

Mine to Take
RECOMMENDED: Mine to Take by Jackie Ashenden is $2.99! I don’t think Ashenden is writing many erotic romances these days, but let me know in the comments. Elyse read this contemporary erotic romance and really enjoyed it. She gave the book an A-:
I immensely enjoyed the start of this series and am looking forward to the rest of the books. If you like sexy biker gang president CEO heroes who are bossy in the bedroom–and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?–then consider picking up Mine to Take.
First in a brand new series featuring the members of the Nine Circles Club—friends bound together by power, secrets, need…and the love they will find and stop at nothing to keep.
Passion always comes at a price.
Gabriel Woolf is unstoppable. A ruthless businessman, he has perfected the art of revenge. Ever since his mother’s death, Gabriel has harbored only one wish: To take down the man who ruined their lives. But all bets are off when he meets his father’s step-daughter, Honor St. James. Beautiful and innocent, she is everything Gabriel never knew he wanted—and now there’s no turning back…
Is her desire worth the risk?
Honor wasn’t born yesterday. She knows that Gabriel is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, willing to cross any line to get what he wants…herself included. But Gabriel’s passion for Honor—in spite of her connection to the man he hates the most—cannot be denied…and the feeling is utterly mutual. Can Gabriel be trusted? The only thing she knows for sure is how he makes her feel. And she can’t keep herself from coming back to him, over and over again…

The “I Do” Dilemma
RECOMMENDED: The “I Do” Dilemma by Jayci Lee is $1.99! This one was previously titled Temporary Wife Temptation. Lara recently wrote a Lightning Review of this one and gave it an A-:
There’s a reason I’m mad about tropes. I like to follow a familiar groove, one that hits all the emotional high points that I need. While these old favourites feel slightly stiff in places, overall, it was just the kind of emotional rollercoaster I love being on.
A read-in-one-sitting, fast-paced Rom Com.
Oprah Magazine recommended as one of the Best Romance Novels We Couldn’t Put Down in 2020!Resolute bachelor Garrett Song’s single-minded focus on business is about to pay off. He’s this close to taking the reins of his family’s L.A. fashion empire. But his family is throwing up a roadblock: Marry the Korean heiress they handpicked for him or lose the CEO seat. To foil the plan, he needs a fake bride, fast. As if on cue, Natalie Sobol enters his office, reading him the riot act about breaking company rules…dare he pop the question?
Talk about breaking the rules. Natalie can’t believe her ears when the big boss proposes—and she says, “I do”! Where the heck did that come from? Sure, Natalie needs to show she can provide a stable home to keep custody of her adorable orphaned niece, and adding a husband to the picture, even temporarily will make her case. She’ll benefit from a fake marriage as much as he does. But there’s one hitch: the spark between them. Will red-hot chemistry burn their bargain?
Previously published as Temporary Wife Temptation in 2020.

Really enjoyed YOU HAD ME AT HOLA, although I think Alexis Daria’s TAKE THE LEAD is even better.
THE “I DO” DILEMMA was a miss for me. I just didn’t believe the romance. Quite possibly a me issue, so YMMV.
I’m still so mad about the Lee cover – this one is so bland and generic compared to the original Harlequin cover, which was so gorgeous that I literally bought the book even though I didn’t end up reading it. (Please tell me I’m not the only one who occasionally does that!)
@Star totally agree! I am loosely acquainted with one of the cover models so when they switched the cover I SHRIEKED in outrage. Not lost on me that the illustration compared to the photo cover deliberately obscures the Asian characters’ ethnicity.

Also, @Star and @egged, completely agree about the Jayci Lee re-cover–I nearly cried when I first laid eyes on the original, I was so thrilled to see an Asian COUPLE on the cover. The re-do is quite bland in comparison.
